Insect swarm and soloing

If you are soloing and get swarmed, whats the best way to dispel it?

j/k - no seriously I have no idea - i think your only chance would be an item ability like Carsomyr's dispel, maybe it would be fast enough, I don't even know if Keldorns special ability dispel is fast enough not to get disrupted.

There is no way to dispel it. It gives you a 100% casting failure no matter how fast you are. It only lasts 6 rounds (36 seconds) though, so I'd recommend you just run and hide for a bit.

Yes, there is no way to dispel spell failure. If you already have it: run away. Some of those insect spells have slowly moving effect, so you can even run around to avoid the swarm or cast invisibility. If you have the Vecna you may have enough time to cast SI:Conjuration.

I not tried this but does casting failure affect spell triggers, if not you could put a dispel magic in a trigger and fire it off.
A trick that I have managed to pull off when soloing with my kensai/mage was to cast a dispel magic at a small distance from yourself at just the right moment before the swarm hits you. needs the robe of vecna and amulet of power to pull it off consistantly but was a life saver on the first level of watchers.

got it... whack yourself with staff of magi!!!! I know the combat rules allows self inflicted spell, was testing out what happens with magic missile with robe of mirrors, it should allow you to whack yourself with staff of magi.
if you got ring of gaxx this is not a big issue, unless you have 25 str or soemthing, and the dispell magic should drop the swarm instantly.
try it!!!
