I dunno, if you're really gonna RP as a paladin, I can't see keeping Viconia in the party. When I played my paladin, my party was:
Myself
Valygar
Minsc
Anomen
Aerie
Imoen

Spoiler:
You can very well have Viconia in your party when you're playing a good alignment character, especially when you're romancing her.
Valygar and Viconia could have problems though. They might get into a fight and as a result, they'll both leave. To prevent this from happening, you should keep your rep below 14. Also, there seems to be a random factor. Some players didn't have any problems at all.

This is a BG2 topic and you have already posted on the BG2 board. There is no need for you to post it here as well.

Mazzy goes well with a paladin NPC, and also she's a very unerapreciated character.
And if you don't like here skills (shortsword/bow) you can alsways change them with shadowkeeper.

If you get the Kelsey NPC mod(one of the best mods out there IMHO) you could make him(sorceror) your primary spellcaster. Then your party would look like:
PC Paladin(I'd make him an Inquisitor)
Viconia
Jan
Kelsey
That's plenty of beef, some ranged weapon users, and a whole lotta spells. If you want more I'd suggest maybe Mazzy, but I've had something against Minsc since BG. And romancing Viconia would be a good idea.
