How exactly does this work? Is it based on your intelligence? I presume it is. Is there an int which lets you have as much spells as you want? Or do you have to plan everything beforehand justso you qtill have 'room' for the powerfull spells in the end? Thnx.

With 19 intelligence, you'll have nothing to worry about, as far as I can remember, you won't have a problem as you've reached the maximum amount of spells unless you cheated a character.

So basically I can learn as much spells as I want?

With 19 INT, yes

Otherwise you can drink potions of genius before scribing them - but it seems cheesy to me
(a temporary boost shouldn't allow you to handle too many spells all the time)

And incidentally, the spell limits are per level so you won't run out of room for the higher level spells anyway. However, to cast level 9 spells requires at least 18 intelligence, so Imoen and Nalia will need potions to memorize them. Your illusionist will be OK with 19, though.

Untrue.

This is not AD&D, this is a simplified computer adaptation. ;)
Only the chance to learn spells and the maximum number of spells per level are affected by INT.
Once the spells are scribed, you can safely memorize and cast them whatever the INT.

Yes, sorry, scribe was what I meant. Nalia and Imoen cannot write L9 spells to their spell book unless you give them a potion, because their INT is 17. Once they have the spell in their spell book, they can memorize and cast it.
