Help - ToB - Imoen and her casting abilities.

This may be a stupid question, but... I have been playing ToB for a bit now, and I noticed that Imoen doesn't have her spell casting abilities. I thought this would correct itself somewhere down the story line so I kept her on so she could build levels and be able to use high lvl wizard spells, but I've gone a good ways through ToB now and she has yet to regain her casting powers. Her spells are blacked out as they were when you find her in the Spellhold, however she regained them. Now they seem to be gone again. Is there something I am suppose to do to get her her casting ability back or does she stay this way, or is this a bug?
Thanks in advance.

this is usually because she is wearing armor allowed by thiefs but not by mages. anything but a robe should not be worn by any class that has a mage neither multi nor dual.
go to inventory and remove her armor and see if it helps

Of course... now I feel stupid. Imoen is wearing leather armor for the AC bonus... I didn't even think about how that would affect her casting. Thanks much. Amazing that I've been able to go this far without having to use her mage abilities.

Just remember: Get ahold of some sylvan, elven, or similar chain and you can cast spells while wearing it.

Actually, if you're looking to make use of Imoen's thieving skills as well as her magic, I'd suggest you give her a Robe of the Good Archmagi. Elven & Drow chain mail tends to give thieves penalties to the effectiveness of their skills (-15 to their skills if I remember correctly), while mage robes do not appear to at all. This would apply to any Thief/Mage combination (including Jan, though I believe his personal leather armor does not give penalties to his skills at all). Also, the Robe of Good Archmagi (since Imoen is of Neutral Good Alignment) will add to her armor class (I don't remember how much off hand), give her a +1 bonus to all her saving throws (actually lowering them so that her computerized dice rolls have to be lower to avoid some negative magic effects), and give her some magic resistance (so that she has a small chance to avoid the effects of some spells).
I'm not sure if Elven/Drow chain gives penalties to a Bard's Pick Pockets skill at all, which is something I've been curious about, to tell the truth.
Overall, it's all up to you. I'm just telling you my past (and somewhat recent) observations.

Hm...
Since I primarily use her for disarming traps (jaheira detects them because her spell is certain to pick them up on the first try; its a lot easier for me than waiting a long while to hope a check has been made) that doesn't apply to me.
