About henchmen

I'm new to NWN at the moment and was wondering what henchman to use. Im a dwarven warrior, currently in chapter 2, troll caves.

Currently I'm using a bard, she's quite good at boosting my stats but rarely kills anyone herself. So I'm considering switching the helper. Who would you suggest?

I used to use the rogue, Tomi, but he can't do anything else than pick locks and disable traps. The bard can do that stuff as well.

And one more thing I was wondering: can casting henchmen summon creatures?

Basicly, what henchman would you suggest to use for a warrior?

Thanks in advance, S4nder

You should use what ever complements your play style best.

Personally I prefere Daelan the barbarian because he usually can hold his own rather well.
But if playing a warrior type and I had to choose another then him, I'd proberly go for either the bard or the cleric (can't remember their names atm).

Maybe I'll try out Daelan for while and check out his skills. I wont be able to pick locks without a bard though. Some chests don't open when forced. But what do you think of the monk? I think he can survive well too, with all his evasions etc...

I've not used Grimgnaw (or what his name is :D ) much, but Monks when they get a bit up the levels are very though.

The reason I rarely play using Grimgnaw is that he is terrible evil :D and my characters are mostly good/neutrals.

But what do you experienced NWN players think about the sorcerer and cleric henchmen? The reason for me asking so much about henchmen is that I think it's one of the best qualities of the game. So maybe someone who feels the same could give me a review about each henchman.

I'm a little confused about casting henchmen because they don't seem to cast half the spells available to their class.

Right now I'm trying out cleric and the only bad thing about her is that she can't open locks or disable traps.

I have had little practical knowlegde of the spellcasting henchmen, but their AI is very limited and they tend to use their spells stupidly. Like casting high powered spells to get rid of 1 low monsters.

The bard henchmen I feel are good because the bardsong ability has many good features, I played SoU and shifted my henchmen to a bard (Deekin, funny critter) and was very pleased with the bardsong and the henchmans usage of it.

Mostly I stick with the meele henchmen.

But if you rest often, you can almost keep your henchmens spells ready at most times and it might be little inconvience.

I'm a bard, and I'm using Daelen. Personally, I love him. I actually kind of missed him when I lost my computer and had to start anew, so the first thing I did was go out and get him. :)
