Illuminated Order questions

Spoilers:

I just started the IO plug-in and so far it looks very good. I just delivered the letter to M'aiq, got the Maiden's Token for the Imp Legion and wiped out Sargon for Percius. Finally I got back to Balmora and tried to reenter the house of my IO contact but the door is magically barred. I read the letter but there didn't seem to be any logical clues in it. What is supposed to happen at this point or is this a bug that's barring me from returning to report on my mission?

Is it possible to break the IO quest by accidentally killing someone important during another cult/faction quest?

It's been a good long time since I was there and I don't remember having that problem (had a couple of others though) but IIRC you get this ring or band early on that gets imbued with new teleportation routes by your quest givers as you climb the ranks - with Scourge Barrow and the contact in Balmora (can't remember his name) being the first places you can go. So if you have that ring try teleporting there... hope that helps.

POSSIBLE SPOILER:
You should have received a key to enter the first time, and you must keep the key with you to enter through the door on subsequent occasions. This is true of other guildhouses you will be sent to; you must keep the "opener" item with you to enter the normal way.

When you were sent to Scourge Barrow you were given an amulet. Each new guildhouse you go to will upgrade the amulet such that you don't need to use "the door", but you must bring up the topic to do so.

What's with the Final Lich? (Spoilers)

SPOILERS:

Well this has been a great mod up to now. I'm on the last quest to become a lich. I had done all the daedra god quests earlier in the game so it was just a matter of finding where I stashed them and then take them to Massama cave. Fought my way through the guardians and entered. Now I am greeted by a hostile mirror image of my character who attacks me and appears to be invulnerable. What am I supposed to do here? I can't defeat my doppleganger and there's no dialog. I'm carrying the items (Goldbrand, Mirune's Razor, Ring of Kajiit, Mace of Molag Bal, Helm of Oreyn Bearclaw, Bitter Mercy spear, and Azura's star) but can't figure out what I'm supposed to do with them.

Let me deal with this one issue at a time.

Actually I found my mirror to be rather easier than I expected. I have done this several time (there's a bug - see later) and if you race to hide behind one of the statues, any magic blasts will explode harmlessly against it. I used either my dwarven darts or exploding arrows to bring 'me' down. You might want to plan this a little better now that you know what you are up against.

You do not need your artifacts for this portion of the quest. All you are asked to do is to verify the situation - about becoming a lich. I would strongly recommend that you complete the quest (i.e. return to Fionnovar) and save at that point before becoming a lich; once a lich there's no turning back unlike becoming a vampire. Also, unless you use any of those artifacts, you might as well leave them aside until you are ready to take the plunge.

The artifacts are used as sacrifices during the 'act of becoming' and are comsumed. I did go through with it, but found that being a lich didn't fit my approach to the game. I completely covered myself with armour and clothing, but that fact that I was a lich couldn't be denied. Life became a pain in the ass, so I quit.

The bug that I mentioned earlier is reflective of the fact that you must meet and battle yourself. The author hasn't figured how to fix it, but I have figured how to minimize the affects. When you save and return to the game you will receive a message about loading a clone NPC (rather than yourself); there are also messages about certain spells not loading. You will find your character unclothed, but with almost everything in inventory, so it's merely a matter of re-dressing. EXCEPT YOUR TRANSPORTATION AMULET - if you have returned to Fionnovar and your amulet has been updated to transport you there, that spell will be one of the disappearing ones. So... immediately after beating yourself and conferring with the lich to complete the quest, save, reload, deal with the clone issue (only once) then returh to Fionnovar for your upgrade, then save, then go become a lich.

I hope this helps. I realise some of this might be spoiler, but the subject title does include spoilers. And the bug does need management.

I defeated my mirror image with brutal cheating. Saved before entering, then raised my bluntweapon skill to 1000 with console, and whammo. :D Ok, cheated, but the battle would have continued forever otherwise.

Thanks for the replies. At least I know now that I have to defeat my clone first. Problem is my char is a level 82 female nord and her clone is awesomely powerful. Apparently I had some of those really deadly Black Dart Gang darts on me when I went in so my clone is equipped with them as well. One hit and my char is dead. And the clone is really fast, much faster it seems than my char making trying to hit the clone with a missile all but impossible, yet the clone nails my char with the same dart with relative ease. I finally got bored with the whole ordeal, gave up on the game and have been playing something else.

So why don't you just drop the darts and pick them up later? ?

I haven't tried that. I don't know what the game uses to equip one's character mirror. If it is as equipped when you enter the hall then dropping anything to pick it up later won't work. The best suggestion I can give is to save just inside the door and keep trying.

My character is a woodelf marksman/battlemage somewhere around level 57. Also extremely powerful. But of the 4 times I tried this, I was successful 3.

SPOILER: Levitate and disappearence both work in there, so maybe approaching the centre of the room until the mirror image appears, then disappearing and levitating to move behind a statue (for protection) until spells wear out. Also leave the deadliest range weapons and scrolls outside. Cuirass of Savior's Hide + Ring of Marara give Resist Magicka 100% CE.

I tried a number of variations on this. Even when I completely stripped down and entered the room my mirror appeared to be fully equipped with everything I had outside the room. My mirror was fully armored and armed to the teeth.

I have CE ring of levitation and I couldn't get it to work in there. I'll try again. I find this ring to be buggy especially when I switch to it while walking on water (I usually sink instead). I'm kinda bored with the game and its hard to get motivated to pick it back up for now. Been playing FO2 and Deus Ex of late. But thanks for the tips. Also, can you Recall out of the room? I can't seem to exit once I enter but haven't tried Intervention or Recall.
