Harper fight (spoilers)

When yu have jaheira, you get called back to the harper hold at some point which results in a fight....does this happen if you dont have jaheira? as this fight results in the ring of wizardry i would really like it.

No, without Jaheira there's no harper fight. I don't remember the ring of wiz though, but if it's there, maybe you could pickpocket it? Slim chance, I know...

i killed them all anyway to save time while looking for montaron...there was no mage there and no ring

There's only one other ring of wiz. You get it when your pc is a mage or sorc, but I'm guessing you're not playing one of those right now...

there is another one though...ive had it before...not wizardry - sorcery or something, gives higher level spells

The Ring of Acuity. You get it from the mage stronghold whether your a wizard/sorceror or not, after you complete the sphere quest.
Also, here's my dillema with Jaheira's Harper quest. How long (as in days) does it take for Dermin to appear for the second time? I remember when I first played the game (on a Windows 98 PC) that he appeared in Chpt. 6, and I went through that whole process then (which made sense in some ways, but not in others). But after I got the patch for Windows XP, he hasn't appeared at all, and it's been 20 days or more! Do I have to wait for some time in Chpt. 2 for that to finish, or can I still wait for that whole occurence?

No, not the ring of acquity... when you get the mage stronghold, one of the apprentices can make you a ring of wiz.
Dermin should have appeared by now. Other than that I can't help you. You can make him appear using a cheatcode, but I wouldn't know the right one. I searched for a CLUACommand code but I couldn't find it. Sorry.

I'm betting that thats one of the play time things (like the romance conversations) as opposed to game time (days and hours). Try leaving the computer on for a few hours (without doing anything) and see what happens.

When the students make the ring of wiz, dont they usually die? i never make it because every time i tried one of them died (that rhymes(sp?))
my solo sorc dont have it.

Sure, one of them dies. But the ring of wizardy just might be worth giving up a couple of potions for - don't you think? (It is the one who makes the potions that dies, right?)

When you have Jaheria, you come out of the Amanuator temple, after defeating the Shadow Lord. Jaheria goes away for a little while, so rest. Then she comes back. She says go to the hq for harpers. Then this guy name geridaran or something starts a fight. apparently he was a harold. When you beat him and his lackys you get the ring of wizardry. then you get chased around Amn for the rest of your life!
