New Here

Hello folks, am new to the forum and fairly new to SoA.
Great game, thats for sure. I do have some issues with what quests or mini quests to do in what order. It seems ever step I get assigned tasks before completing the several I have.
I get the feeling I am missing some things and proceeding too quickly. Right now my main character is about level 9 and I am in some crypts trying to rid them of the vampires. Seems like almost too tough for my level, but I am not sure.
Anyways, any suggestions as to what quests to go after at first and how to tell when to move on.
:)
Thanks for any suggestions.

Well your goal in act 2 is to get the $15,000 and get to where Imoen is, there's a couple low level quests you should probably do first;

Copper Coronet Slavers quest

then

Nalia's Keep quest

After those 2 you should have enough money to pay for passage to Imoen. The other quests can be completed when you return or if you'd rather finish them off beofre setting out to Imoen you can do that as well.

Welcome aboard!

Whoops almost forgot, before you leave for Imoen buy Shield of Balduran located in the Adventurers Mart, you'll find it very handy. :)

I have done the Keep Quest and from that had enough to pay the 15,000. So I am in Act 3 I think.
But thats about it, from there I went to the Crypts.
Will see how far I can get in these crypts then may backtrack and do the Slaver quest you suggested.
Thanks :)

I Usually do every possible quet before I go to imoen, it makes getting here alot easyer, and i want to be able to buy/find all the equipment posible.

PS, the shield Krimmy mentioned is only avalable if you have the bonusmerchants, the can be downloaded at the gamebanshee-site

spoiler beware

once you finish those crypts you will be offered a ship to where imoen is, and once you take it you wont be able to go back for a long time, so do all the quests first.

Go to the temple district and do the unseeing eye quest, thats a good one, and once youve done it there are some more simple quests avaialable from the temple of helm which have good rewards, and in the sewers there is a lead to a quest in the bridge dstrict and HAer'Dalis

Yes those are good quests to start off at low levels. I would even suggest doing some of the quests in the bridges district, some of the temples quest and my fav, not really a quest, but raze the big house in the bridge district. Just getting the items from there without battling the Lord of the Manor is fun. But YES do what stiglar said. Very good idea, great way to level up too.

BTW - if your running a romance, (or just planning on it) I strongly advise you to do the Umar hills quest ASAP - whenever I've waited, it ends up being a lot harder, both because of more enemies, and they end up being level-draining enemies (which I hate).

I think I attempted to start some sort of Umar Hills quest. Got it from a Mage in the Government area. The Hills showed up on my map but I did not seem to ba able to pick them as a destination.
Not sure what was up.

The first time you want to leave the city of Amn, you have to pay a visit to the city gates district in order to leave, after that it's all hunky-dory though.

I am also new to this forum. I would quote Venge for my message, but I'm not sure that I would do it correctly, so I left it out. The quote that should be at the top of this message can be found in the post above mine. I'm not sure if this next should be classified as a spoiler, but better safe than sorry, so ...

MINOR SPOILER

The quest in the Umar Hills that you get from Tolgerias, the mage in the Council of Six building is not the actual Umar Hills quest. He just sent you to find and kill Valygar, the key to a different quest, the Planar Sphere. You can get the actual Umar Hills quest from a boy that approaches you somewhere in the city named Delon.

Also, before you do every side-quest, I would consider whether you want Imoen as your main mage for the rest of the game. If you do, maybe save a few that aren't that important for Chapter Six, when she can get some of the XP and spell scrolls. Just another way of doing things.

@Venge, hi. Welcome to the forum. A couple of quick points:

First, when you create a new thread, try to put some indication of its subject in the title. A thread like this, for instance, might have "Order of quests" as its title, just so you'll draw people to it. Many people skip threads that don't interest 'em.

Second, when you post a thread like this that discusses details of the game which other people, playing it for the first time, might well want to not know about, please put "SPOILER" in your title. I'll do it for you on this one. We've had tons of complaints about spoilers in most of the game-related forums; so much so, that the site owner even put a sticky thread (which you should have read ;) ) at the top of this forum.

As for your request:

The only quests I would recommend against for a youngish party are Windspear Hills, Trademeet and the Planar Sphere. Even those aren't a problem if you're familiar with 2E rules, and playing on normal difficulty. Easiest quest at the beginning is in the circus tent, right in the area where you emerge from the Irenicus' underground funhouse. ;) Second easiest and the most rewarding, is Nalia's stronghold. You'll come away with a lot of fine enchanted ammunition, and a great enchanted melee weapon. You meet Nalia in the Copper Coronet, over in the Slums. (Personally, I've never cared to add her to my party, but that's a matter of personal taste. There are no "good" or "bad" choices in forming parties.)

Where i found him, after the Slavers Quest, was southward of Copper Coronet, near the nearest district exit, hiding behind a wagon of sorts.

I thought the person in the Gates District gave the quest to save Trademeet from the raiding animals. Delon gives the Umar Hills quest I believe.

I remember them BOTH being there, that's the thing.

mjcw, She may be good at spell casting, but I would keep her in the back. She is the worst fighter on the game, so I've seen.

Without doubt, but then, what mage isn't? And Aerie's stats are very much a mage's stats, although she's a multi.

But when she gets the really high level spells in both professions in ToB, she becomes possibly the strongest party NPC in the game. Think of what she can power in the trigger spells that attack the undead, after, of course, she's already used Simulcrum and Timestop. A dangerous lady, this. Not one you'd want to cross. ;)

Delon starts out in the Government district but after a few days, he will find you in whatever part of the city you are. If I don't go looking for him, I usually encounter him in the Promenade.

You may have to have Minsc in your party for this to happen.
