fire giant in watcher's keep

i'm in the second level of the watcher's keep. i'm supposed to kill that fire giant in tha fire room but i can't kill him. the best i could was to take him to 'near death' and no matter how i hit he never died. i tried using ice arrows but it didn't work.
any suggestions?

he can only be killed in the cold room...

Er...
I'm fairly certain you have to kill the elementals (5?) in the cold room, then he can be killed anywhere (but easiest outside of the fire room)

NOt unless the elementals are so crowded behind him he can't get back into it. (Or, as I generally prefer, two hasted tank chars can rush behind him and block him from re-entering)
