Area Jump Cheat (SPOILERS!)

I want to make the area-jump cheat work, so I can jump my character through all the really-annoying hoops really quick. All I really want is to get the special abilities of hell, but I'd probably take my char through the asylum as well. How do I do this? Whenever I try to use the cheat, it doesn't work...

I'm not sure it would help, even if you got the cheat to work. The plot progresses by certain variables being set, which are usually the result of dialogues or other events. Simply being in, for instance, Spellhold, will not give you the proper variables, so Irenicus will not appear and the plot will not progress.
That being said, the jump cheat is implemented as follows:
1. Add the line "Debug Mode=1" under the "[Program Options]" heading in the Baldur.ini file. (You probably already knew that).
2. Begin a game and press [Ctrl] + [Space] to display the console window.
3. In the console type: CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("[location number]")
So, for instance, going to the Nine Hells would be: CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR1512")

While it is true that the right variables will be set, jumping to Brynlaw and getting the rune from perth will get you through the asylum (since all the dialogs there "can't" be triggered untill the right point in the story there's no need to do anything about them to prevent premature dialog. Same applies for the entire asylum sequence up to bodhi, where you get the slayer form... and more importantly, the nine hells.
Now with the area code for the nine hells (which was actually what I was missing - I just had the wrong numbers!) I should be set!

OK. Sounds like you know what you're doing. Getting the wardstone from Perth was the specific example I was thinking of, since if you don't do that, being in the asylum won't help. But if you are going to do the necessary steps first, it should work.

Actually, that landed me in lady Galvena's festhall in Brynlaw.

AR2900 is the value to put in the console to go to the Nine Hells, IIRC.

"IIRC"?!
GAAAH! At this rate, it'd be quicker to use ShadowKeeper and hack the benefits in! ...
Does anyone know how I could do that?

I tested it for you. Yes, AR2900 got me straight to the Nine Hells. But, try it on your machine as well as AR1512 did NOT get me to Lady Galvena's Festhall, but rather to the portal room on the first floor of the Asylum Dungeon. But AR2900 should work.
Oh, and I can't help you with ShadowKeeper.

Gah, your right.
its the portal room.
I was actually thinking of something else (When I tried to jump to the asylum and ended up in the festhall, with a naked mage... ouch.)

actually, to hack those in, you would actually have to play them...
what you would have to do is to go to nine hells, do all the rooms, collect all the tears, then save the game, insert each tear, and after inserting all the tears, do a save to a different save file, then look at both saves under shadow keeper...you will see in the "affects" tab a bunch of new affects, those will copied to a new character give you those special abilities and immunities...
which do you want?
you can duplicate the stats bonus easily enough, and the magic resistance bonus, and the elemental protection easily enough using shadowkeeper, they are pretty obvious and easy to do...
here is the immunity to +1 weapons...
Flags will always be 0x0000009 (I think this is permenent-permenent but If this keeps disapearing when you save the game you could try 0x0000001)
Time will always be 1
Probability will always be 100
The Target Should Always be set to 0x00000001
And all the resources should be left blank
Immunity to Normal weapons
0x00000078
0
2
Immunity to Magical weapons
0x00000078
(magical + to be immune to here, although that will not protect against any higher or lower than that so you will have to do multiple ones)
