writing spells (newbie)

yea, im a newbie.
i cant seem to figure out how to write/memerize spells. im using that Imoena chick at the beginning. i can write them into her book and then i rest but then when i press the magic button at the bottom, they arent there. what else do i have to do?

Open the mage spellbook. To the left you'll see some empty slots that will get filled once you pick up spells from the right. Now rest. Good luck.

thats what i was doing. maybe its a glitch. is there a patch i need to download?

I'm sorry, I wish I could help you more but I don't know very much about this game myself.
I suppose there are a lot of guys with experience around here. Probably they will help you more. Good luck.

Is Imoen wearing armor? This is the normal cause as most people dont know that armor (exept robes) disrupt spellcasting.
Otherwise i would suggest always having the latest patch downloaded.
Else you are doing something wrong. Open the spellbook, look to the right, press a spell (Magic Missile is fine) and rest.
Sorry for the lecturing tone, but i'm getting used to repeating this

yup
yup, she is wearing armor. that must be it, il take it off. i tried to find a patch for the game, but couldnt. i tried the update button in the game but it didnt take me to one. i also did a search but came up with zilch. would you know were its available? thanks by the way.

You did remember to empty out the spells already in her list, right? The slots in the left can only be used if they are empty. Otherwise, click on them to empty them out.
