Hello everybody,

Just writing my first message in the forum (oh so exciting) and just thought I would like to check up on how my fellow gamers actually play the game (cause only god knows how many there are)!
I am actually looking for idea, I had a pretty awsome file that was pretty close to completing the game (ok so I had'nt actually got round to finishing it yet) but I decided to make a Dark character to see how the "Dark Side" suited me and how the plot changed so I got about an hour in and decided to save, I was in such a routine from my over game that I accidentaly saved over over my main file! I could'nt reach the power off button in time it had been completed. In a mad rage i deleteted my Dark character aswell. So I have to start again (man some bits are boring) and just wondering how you guys start off? Whta type off character do you use. Light or Dark, Scoundrel or Soldier, Feats or Attributes? Cause I need ideas cause i have started about 5 times since I deleted my main file and they have all lasted no longer than 30 mins. I miss my lightsaber! Can't be bother doing Taris! Do I care if you can't pay your money you pale ugly ***got.
Hope you don't go doing what I have done.

Cheers

P.S. May the force be with you (thats so cliche)

I started off the game as a Soldier my first time, mainly because I wasnt sure what to expect and I new a "Tank" wound have a good survile rate...and it did.

My feats where usualy Flurry/Two weapon fighting/Toughness...then of course Weapon Specialization (Lightsaber/ Melee Weapons) if you have extra Feats try Implants...at level 3 you can get a +4 dex implant or a 2 regeneration....helpfull yes?

Attributes
Str-14
Dex-16
Con-14
Wis-14
Int-10
Cha-8
If your not planing of using persuade theres not much use for Charisma. A higher charisma affects you followers slightly in they will keep attacking the target that you tell them to. I didnt find it usfull enuff to justify putting points to it....I dosnt effect prices or genral reactions of NPCs when you first meet them.
Intellegence is good to have if you like having Skills but of your playing a Soldier/Gardian class's its likly that it wont matter much. Soldier/Gardians only get 1 Skill point a level unless there int is 14 I belive...then it goes up to 2! gee wow (you'll have to depend on your other party members to detect mines/disarm.

Dex for Armor Class...you end up in robes generaly at the end. Also if you want a high AC make a Scoundral/Gardian and dont level your scoundral passed 7. He gets a +4-24 on sneek attacks (this also meens when the monster is stunned) and a +4 to AC (I think it was) cross that with Dueling (+3AC at max) and give him Critical strike (with the right crystals in your saber) and you'll destroy the bad guys =)

Str for beating things into the ground....if you plan on using a pistol wielding Jedi and no light saber then dont bother with this! lol yeah right :p

Con....well more hit points!! if your a Solier/Gardian you really dont need this too high...with a 14 I usualy ended up with 275HPs or around there.

Wis is for your force points...more Force meens more Death and destruction! BWA HA HA HA.....ha? If your going to rely on force then pump this up.....oh and its good for Will Saves, so does Cha! but who cares couse your beating them into the ground hehe.

Force Powers I always stayed will Heal and Force Push/whirl/wave and Stun/Disable Droid.......Force Suppression/breach Lighsaber Through and Mind Affect are also usfull.

Okay I think Iv gone on enuff..
Oh! you can make way more coin if your Dark....I came out of Teris with 10000 credits...you can still be nice to people, Just dont give them any coin..and threten with nessesary or when it suits you :) Being light or dark affects how much Force Points are used when you use a Force Power...So just becase your good dosnt meen you cant have Force Lightning, it just meens it going to cost you more.
There Im done

And to Matteus thanks a lot inspired me play the game again when all hope was lost (not to sound so cheesey). I am currently on Kashyyyk listening to Jolee blab on about guards in "his" forest.

if jolee is so worried about people taking his forest, but is such a noble jedi dude, why is it HIS forest and not the planet's or the universe's or the force's or the forest's or the wookies? i never liked him...or juhani cause she is on the light side even though she was dark

my recomendation is to be eeeeevil because you can do pretty much whatever the hell you want and you can do all the good offensive powers for like 5 points and if you have force persuade you can swindle people out of mountains of credits (ive gotten about 6000 extra credits on rewards in total). get feats like two weapon fighting (green and purple is cool as well as green and red for a nice christmassy look), critical strike, flurry, third level implant before you reach mannan( i have a +4 constitution implant i got from Roland) toughness, and weapon specialization lightsaber. Make sure you travel with HK-47 and Canderous because they actually complement you for doing stuff like taking a beggars last possesion (which is coincidentally worth 500 credits). The only problem is that you have to kill at least 4 of your party members to be pure evil by the end (i force persuaded Zaalbur to kill Mission).

As a rule, when I start a new RPG I try to create a powerful character, within the devs' game universe limitations, and without cheese. The second time around, I usually try a new character, somewhat different, and ratchet up the difficulty level. If I still want to play, I'll deliberately go for a challenging weaker character, or build a weaker party, or a "problem party" (like substituting Nalia for Imoen or Edwin as my main magic person in BG2).

Here, power is all with feats. Skills help you do things, but in combat, its feats (and Jedi powers) that matter. So in my first runthrough, I concentrated on that. Good? Evil? It doesn't matter. You're seldom placed under conditions where you'll run out of Jedi fuel, even if you do access a "moral" side of The Force (tm) that goes against the grain--unless, again, you turn up the difficulty level.

I played quite a few rounds the same way the first guy did. I went through the game in its entirety as a good player, but he was weak 'cause I didn't understand the progression of my players. It took me 3 days to beat Malak (and that was without killing the Jedi because I was stupid and hadn't chosen throw lightsaber). When I went through again I was (sorta) smart. I made a good character and saved at Dantooine before choosing what Jedi class I wanted. I never touched that save again. I then did the same thing for a dark character. My starting attributes were kinda like this:

Strength and Dexterity were equally high (14),
Wisdom was my highest (16),
Charisma (13) but I wish I'd not given this as much as I did,
Constitution was actually low (11) becuase I wanted more points for the first three I listed. Figured if my wisdom was high I could knock everyone out before they reached me and with high dex and str no one would last long up close, and that has actually proven true. I've only been knocked out once and that was becuase I accidentally hit unpause before I gave orders when I fought Juhani and Jolee. They kept me swirling and that weak Bastilla couldn't knock them out.
Intelligence was very low (10) because I figured that's what my other characters were for (Mission and T3 are the best skill people in the game, and there was no reason for my character to compete with them).

I believe that all totals 30. That is how I like to basically start out. You can tweak things as you wish, but I find that intelligence, constitution, and charisma can be sacrificed a bit (force persuade can make charisma virtually useless).
When I get attributes I always concentrate them on wisdom, because I can boost dexterity and strength with gauntlets and robes.

As far as class choices, I like the soldier/consular combo. I love it so much I don't like trying anything else. I use the early feats of the soldier to master out critical strike and 2 weapon fighting. Getting the implants is a major bonus as well. After leveling up to about 6 soldier, I hoard up to Jedi and use the rest on consular. Gotta grab the force wave to be effective though. Knock 'em down and daze 'em, then butcher them!!!

What other class combos do you guys use?
