I'm not too familiar with 3rd ed. rules but I've figured most of it out from playing IWD II for a week. My question is how do hide/move silently skills work? I realize they make your character go into stealth mode but why are there two skills? Do they do the same thing? Do they combine for one stealth score? If one has a high rank and the other a low rank, how does that affect stealth? From all the documentation these skills just seem redundant.

Hide lets you avoid sight, move silently sound. If someone has a good listening ability, hide doesn't do you any good at staying hidden.
