weapon speed

just a quick question concerning the weapon speed and all...I noticed that in Icewind Dale 1 there was a 'weapon speed' notification on some weapons giving a number on how fast a character can use it...I havent been able to find one on Icewind Dale II and was wondering if there is such a thing, and if there isnt, how can one tell how fast a weapon can be used? can a character swing a short sword faster than a battle axe, or a two handed sword or what? or should I just be looking at how many attacks the character can make a round with the weapon in hand?

I dont have the instruction book with me as I bought the game off a friend who didnt have the manuals anymore but told me that the game was pretty basic and could be played without it.

thanks for any info that can be given on this subject.

you are right

I had the same doubt.
The reason is easy 2 attack are usually better than only one with a bigger damage.
You can see how many attack a character has with that weapon by equipping it and opening the stats. Seems that the difference between a double anded axe and a short sword are not shown on the weapon speed but are based other stats (dx? attack?).
