I've searched through the board, but I haven't found an answer. I've read walkthroughs too, but no matter how hard I look I can't find the secret door that's supposed to lead to Mae'var, and eventually Edwin.

I've allready played through the game once, and didn't manage to get to him that time either. Getting frustrated...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to have Edwin in your party you must go to the thievesguild first (Dock District). Talk to Reynal Bloodscalp (on the first floor) and agree to investigate the treachery.

You get a letter now and with that you can gain access to the rear area of Mae'Var's guildhouse and find Edwin on the second floor.

I'm allready in the Mae'var guildhall. It's Mae'var himself I can't find. I know he's in a cellar somewhere, and the walkthroughs say I go in some secret door. I've gone through the building over and over again, but I can't find it anywhere, and so I'm stuck.

On the main floor - where you gave Gorch the papers - behind the doors on the left there are stairs down which lead to the basement. When you go down stand next to the northern wall - a secret purple doors will appear - clicking them will reveal a secret chamber.
