So I've managed to acquire an awful lot of jewels, jewelry and scrolls (which my sorcerer can't seem to read -- grrr!) but I'm not sure what I should do with them. Are there any I should be keeping? Or should i try to sell/trade them?

Only wizards can read scrolls. This results in sorcerers have fewer spells. The advantage is that the sorcerer can cast more spells a day and doesnt have to memorize.
At least thats how it works in normal 3.0 D&D. I dont know about a 3.5 video game.

No, you may be right. It's just that she has a Read Script skill and also a spell of Decipher Script, so I figured I'd be able to read them.

The spell Identify will also work if you can get it. I think that it is usually a level 1 spell.

Cool, I'll keep an eye out for Identify, then.
Thanks!

Remember, every cast of Identify, whether learned, god-given or from a scroll, costs 100 gp.

Better yet. Learn to create a Wand of Identify.
