Which bows and swords do Elves in BG2 get a +1 bonus for (also is this just +1 to hit or + 1 damage as well?)?

The table at http://www.gamebanshee.com/baldursgateii/races.php
just says long bow and long sword, but I'm reasonably sure in my current game that my elf assassin gets +1 to hit with a non-magical short bow too, as the THACO for a light crossbow is one worse (BTW the character has one star proficiency in both). I also think that the THACO for short swords is the same as long swords, though I might be wrong on this one.

Could someone please clarify what weapons elves do get the +1 bonus for, and whether this is just +1 to hit or for damage as well?

This URL implies Elves get the bonus for all bows and both long and short sword, which I think is what I've experienced:

I'm still not 100% about this, though, nor whether their is a +1 damage bonus
