I know Kensai/Mage is out of the equation as per the latest baldurdash fix/patch. But I want to know what else is a good possible dual class possibility playing SOA/TOB with the latest bioware patch & baldurdash fix installed.

I'm trying to dual this guy to a mage

But I guess rangers can't dual to mages :(

Rangers indeed cant dual, however, there is (I believe) some way of making a sort of Stalker-Mage, which involves using ShadowKeeper and Cluaconsole...

If ure certain you want to make this character, it wont be a full dual-class PC. U level up with stalker untill you are at the level you want it to be, or until you have all the abilites you want. Then change ure class to Mage with ShadowKeeper. When you do this, you will lose your hide in shadows abilty, but I believe you keep ure backstab multiplier.

If you are certain you want to try the way I just suggested I will give an extended explanation...

You can only dual class to a combination that is a viable multi class as well.

Fighters (all Kits, but not Barbarian) can dual to
-Mage
-Thief
-Cleric
-Druid (only Fighters with true neutral alignment)

Mages (all Kits, but not Sorceror) can dual to
-Fighter
-Thief
-Cleric

Thieves (all Kits) can dual to
-Fighter
-Mage
-Cleric

Clerics (all Kits) can dual to
-Fighter
-Mage
-Thief
-Ranger (only Clerics with good alignment can dual to Rangers)

Rangers (only pure Rangers and Beastmasters, not Stalkers& Archers) can dual to
-Clerics

Druids (all Kits) can dual to
-Fighter

Thanks for the explanation Sytze & the chart Numinor. I'm gonna be refering to that from now on, when I try to dual another character.

Swashbuckler / Mage is a very good dual-class ( armour class bonuses , can put 2-points specialisation in all thief-allowable weapons, can put 3 into two weapon style, good thief skills, though no backstab) probably best to dual at level 10 swashbuckler for maximum benefits,

Hope this helps! :-)

Ugh!

When (and why, other than being horribly unbalanced) did Kensai/Mage get patched out? It's still viable on my install.

PS, many slightly iffier class combos - like stalker/cleric or ranger/specialty priest, fighter/conjuror are easily made in Shadowkeeper - it's only a LITTLE cheat ;)

Sorry for the hub-bub. I thought it was patched out in baldurdash because my kensai's were not dualing to mages. I later found out I did not have high enough strength to do so. So, in the end i was able to kensai-mage.

Hmm, I'm tempted to solo the Swash/Mage. Fighter skills, theifing skills, and mage abilities in one neat little package!
