Need help on dual-class weapons specialisation

I have a query about Duel class specialisation - I have a human swashbuckler who I want to dual to a mage at 10th level, after I reach 10th level (or is it 11?) as a mage I know I get my existing swashbuckler weapons specialisations and thief skills back, however what I want to know is that when my mage gets another spcialisation point, can I then put this in a non-mage, but swashbuckler-allowable weapons specialisation (e.g. e.g. long swords, light cross bow, 2 weapons style etc.) and if so can I put more than one point in each specialisation, like a swashbucker can?

thanks! :-)

Hi

Once you reach lvl 11 with your mage you'll regain your swashbuckler abilities and your specializations will be dual, i.e. when you level up you'll be able to put (and/or add) stars in weapons in which your swashbuckler is proficient. It will work only after your first class becomes active though (i.e. mage reaches lvl 11).

Great character choice, btw ;)

You get your Swashbuckler abilities back at level 11, and until then your PC is exactly like a single class mage:
You can put a max of 1 * into the mage usable weapons (quarterstave, sling, dagger, darts). The weapon proficiencies from the Swashbuckler class come back when you reach level 11 with mage.

Yes but, what I wanted to know is whether (after level 11) a swashbuckler / mage can put in any more profficiency points into swashbuckler weapon proficiencies (i.e. not just dagger, dart, sling, two weapons style etc.) when the mage gets more profficiency points

Yes you can. As soon as you get your old class back its just as if you were a swashbuckler, you can put up to 2* in any thief weapon and up to 3* in Two weapon fighting.

Stars..

Do be aware that if you have, say a point in dagger as a swashbuckler, the put a point in as a mage, you will NOT have two when you recover your abilities, though you would if you put that second point in after recovery. A minor point to be aware of.

But if you hadn't put the first (swahbuckler) point in, you would still have the point you put in as a < level 11 mage when you got your swashbuckler skills back, I presume?

Yes...

Yes, that's correct - it just means that you shouldn't put stars into skills you already have while the old class is "locked out"
