Switch in Kisers basement

while detecting traps i discovered a trap that came with a message saying that 'you have found a switch but must disarm the trap to use it' so i did, and it told me i could could hear cogs whirring, but nothing happened. What does it do?
I have never encountered it before so im thinking maybe its a TDD thing...(or kelsey or solaufein)

I just came across that the other day, but I'm pretty sure I remember it from my first (mod-free) go through the game. There are two of those traps, and IIRC they disarm traps in the tunnel round the back, or something.

Trapped switches
There are 3 of these. Two outside the prison door and the third inside on the floor. If you disarm and flip all three switches the secret door will open where the kidnapped guy is being held. Its another way of getting into the prison if you don't want to tip off Kiser that you know he's guilty.
