I don't know if this works in v1.1, but it sure does in v1.0. . . . Well, not ALL the time, but most of the time when the enemies are blood-suckable. . . .

Try learning Feed Lvl. 5 (or 4, or even 3, it should still be effective) and make sure you have Blood Healing at least up to 4 if it's later in the game. Turn of Follow for all the other party members off, and use, say, Christof to solitarily sneak up on enemies, one at a time (just get close enough for him/her to become aroused), and once the enemy is close enough, keep attempting to use Feed. If he hits you, quickly tap a hotkey for Blood Healing and use it quick, then go back to Feed and try again. Once you catch him, he can't get away! Then run back and feed all your teammates if they're low on blood, and then go out to find some more.

If you know Awe, use this in conjunction. Awe the guy and then suck his blood. Oh, and this is really effective: Later in the game, once you know Cloak of Shadows lvl. 5 or 4, run up to, say, three Ventrue, kill two, and suck the third. If they cast naughty disciplines like Dread Gaze or Awe, you can simply wait for it to wear off because you're cloaked, and then keep at them. No matter how much blood you use, you'll probably get it all back again once you catch one by the throat!

Using Psychic Projection just before you enter a room is good to plan the attack. Say for example you have a room in Orsi's Factory with two Ventrue. If they're far enough apart, you can just sneak up on one with Cloak of Shadows, suck his blood, and the other guy is just standing there totally oblivious to the fact that his partner is being drain. Then, once you're done with one, the cloak will activate again and you can quickly run over and do the other guy! Renew the Cloak of Shadows if you need to, you'll get the blood back again after.

Come to think of it, who needs Psychic Projection?! Just use Cloak of Shadows, scout the room, and run back. Oh, is there a creature that can see you when you're cloaked?

I had a lot of fun once I learned Cloak the Gathering lvl. 5! I'd Give all Christof's blood to my party and I'd just cloak my whole party and run in and grab a guy by the throat while my teammates slaughter the other guys. No, doesn't always work, and sometimes Christof gets hit and frenzies, but it's great for stuff like when a character gets Awed or something, he or she won't get hit.

Am I a genius, or is this just some cheap trick that either no-one uses, or is it something that only works in v1.0?

Oh, and another cheesy thing I discovered! This must only work in v1.0 because it's rediculously, lamentably, horribly, disasterously stupid, and yet works. You can get blood for free! Well, I know, you can just feed off everybody like I explained above, or even just happily buy blood since it's somewhat cheap. But say everyone's blood is very low and you feel cheap. Take a character and feed off another, say Christof, until he says something like: "Enough! Thou hast drawn all the blood I have to give!" Then do it again. And again, and again. Your feeding character will gain about 5 blood every time you try to feed off Christof, but Christof's blood will never run completely out! Duh!

To really have fun, don't be cheap. But if you're all ticked off about life and you want to pretend you're powerful, why not?

Pretty good ideas, but a little too much effort for me. I usually only use firestorm and prison of ice in the game. I find prison of ice to be the most powerful spell of all, even Vukodlak doesn't stand a chance if you cast that on him.

That's cool! I've never learned Prison of Ice, actually. I haven't been learning enough disciplines. I haven't really developed any REAL strategies, really, since half the disciplines I know I don't even know how to use properly.

The only discipline i never mastered was Hands of destruction. You'll find the book in Viserohd (sp?) castle, but when i get there my humanity stance is too high to be able to read the book, and i refuse to attack innocents just to learn that discipline.

my favourite discipline was MAJESTY when I was in haus de hexe: those Tremere Lords were powerful,so I used Majesty,they would just stop and gaze at me and I could kill them in a few seconds without being damaged....

Thats the exact same way I went through the game, only using Dominate, bring them close, suck them dry, and repeat.

The only place it doesn't/didn't work is in the Teutonic Knights castle.

Ah, but isn't it much more fun to chop off the heads of those incoming knights, instead of having them stare at you ? I kinda enjoyed it when they walked a few more steps after they lost their heads, shouting "overthere".

I'm discovering that hacking and slashing is quite fun indeed!

I've started the game over again, and I've been just hacking and slashing happily and joyfully. As soon as I am just a little low on blood, I use someone with Feed lvl 2 or 3 (Serena for now, since I know she goes away once I get to london, so I'm not concerned with fine-tuning her stats, so I just let her learn Feed 3 and leave the others on 1 or 2), have my other guys suck her blood first, and then have her seek out something to drink. I don't even think Feed lvl 4 or 5 is significantly more successful than lvl 3 or even 2. So I figure once I get to the Teutonic Base I'll have enough vitae to keep by blood pumping thick.

I must confess . . . I do cheat to some extent. (Teraniel hangs head in shame.) I always use Vault to access it anywhere, because I never can leave items behind, even if I'm totally full, so I figure I can forgive myself. I also use Advance, when I feel like allocating experience. And . . . I use Jump. Yeah, Walk the Abyss is just for saving the game for me.

Anyhow, so I always have access to all my vitae, you see. Perhaps I suck at the game, I don't know. I'll never know.

I cheated one time, i gave myself and all my coteriemembers 1.000.000 XP, and 100.000 goldcoins. So they were skilled to the max and could buy any item i wanted to. But honestly, it takes away all the fun, and i never did it again. I prefer to walk a straight line, so to speak.

And besides, the game isn't THAT hard, cheating will only make it easier. And in my book, an easy game, is no fun.

I understand. But I can't stand running back and forth selling equipment or going to the vault all the time. I'm money mad, you see, in the game world. Aw, I was so pissed when I first got to London! I had like 30,000 gold saved up and then *poof*! Perhaps it was sort of a punishment for cheating. . . .

I hear you, that annoyed me too. At the time you go forth in time, you've gathered a small fortune, and then it's all gone. That kinda sucks.

Not all of it though. Did you know that special weapons like the Aikurn sword, and that claw you find in the Tremere library in House de hexe, come with you if you keep them in your inventory ? Same goes for stuff like bloodrings, bloodamulets, bloodbracelets, discipline rings, powergauntlets, insulated helmets and shields, and all those "special items" you can find. So right before you come to the point where you find Anezka and travel forth in time, take all those special items away from Wilhelm and Serena, and put them in Christoph's inventory, and you'll find everything back in the society of Leopold.

So that's just "Special Items"?

Cool! But not stuff like Platemail or Neckguard?

No neckguards or platemails, unless it's an insulated platemail. But all those gauntlets that are available, all the enchanted rings, necklaces, amulets, bracelets, and weapons that cause aggrevated damage will come with you to the future.

Usually when i reach the society of Leopold, my inventory is pretty full, so i try to run outside as fast as possible, without killing too many opponents. Then i go collect Pink and Lilly, give them some of my medieval stuff, and go back to the society to finish it properly, and have the other two gain some XP in the process. XP which they would have missed otherwise. Plus i needed a couple of extra hands to carry all the goodies i've left behind.

I didn't think of that. . . .

Man, that's basically a way to carry your money to the future. Just buy a bunch of magical junk and sell it at the Curio Shop in the future! Hee hee! Moneymoneymoney!

Do you play Morrowind ?

Just asking, since you love the money element in games so much. In Morrowind there's an infinite amount of dungeons, caves, strongholds, and tombs to explore and loot. You'll find items which will come in handy for your own usage, and lots of stuff to sell. If you haven't played it, i suggest you check it out.

I'll keep an eye out for it for sure.

I only really enjoy the money element in a game when the money is fairly sparse and hard to get. I like Vampire a lot for that aspect because in the beginning of the game it's hard to get a lot of money.

Have you ever played Final Fantasy III for SNES? You can get so much money it just isn't fun. Squaresoft knew that when they made the game, I guess, because later in the game you can get one of your characters an ability which allows him to throw gold at people to inflict damage.

Now that I've learned about the Manipulation trick in Vampire, money has more value, so it's not as exciting to get money as much as it was when I first played the game (I think I had a manipulation score of 25 throughout the whole game for Christof, and I just bought and sold stuff with him for a long time, not realizing that the prices were different for others. Eventually I realized that, but it didn't occur to me that it was because of Manipulation, I just assumed people liked to sell stuff to Samuel for some reason; I guessed people felt sorry for the poor guy.).

I am exactly the same, the element of buying and selling goods to make some profit is a big plus for me in games like this. The most exciting part is where you still have a small amount of cash, and have to struggle for a bit. It becomes less fun when you get really wealthy.

In Morrowind you can make lots of money pretty fast, but you'll lose it as fast as it came once you start training your character and buy spells for him. Eventually though you'll get more money than you can spend, you can even become a businessman with your own miningcompany for instance. It will generate cash for you every month. But being disgustingly rich also has a certain charm. Besides, the combat element is and always will be the most important part, otherwise i'd stick with management sims.

It's the whole Role Playing Game Balance! Heroically venture out into the world to fight evil, gain strength and wisdom, and return with great fortune and tidings of a defeated foe! Horrah! If the foes are decently difficult, and the treaure is reasonably difficult to come by, then it really feels like you've earned it all.

But then, it's all not real anyway. Hmm. Oh well. Perhaps we learn lessons about life while playing good computer/video games. . . . Earning grotesque amounts of money ... Killing ugly things ... using magic ... no, perhaps not. I guess it's all in imaginative fun. And games keep us out of real-life trouble.
