Masterwork Weapons

What is the difference between Masterwork Weapons and +1 weapons. I read somewhere that Materwork Weapons were +1 weapons, but I had a masterwork Battleaxe and a +1 Battleaxe, I didn't use the +1 axe but at the Brother Smyth shop the +1 only sold for a couple of gp where the Masterwork one was a lot more expensive.

These well-made weapons add a +1 bonus to attack rolls. A masterwork weapon's bonus to attack does not stack with an enhancement bonus to attack. According to
Player's Handbook, although I don't own a copy of the new rule books - 3.5 rules - I am pretty sure that this particular rule is not changed.

Assuming the game is using official DnD rules on this topic:
A masterwork weapon adds +1 to hit, but not to damage. A +1 weapon adds 1 to hit AND to damage.
I would have expected the +1 battleaxe to be more valuable than the masterwork.
