In Baldur's Gate 1 I return from the Nashkel mines at the very beginning of Chapter 3. In Nashkel I need to talk to Berrun Ghastkill to continue the quest, but when I get there he isn't in his spot (which is supposed to be in front of the Temple of the Helm). I ways south-east in front of the Garrison is a dead body, that looks like it could be his, but I never killed him, and how could he have gotten down there?
I guess I need to know if there is a way to continue the main quest without speaking to him. Or if there is a way I can reset him in his original place, or something.

After defeating Mulahey in the mines you should have found a note that says his contact is in an inn in Beregost. You don't need to talk to the mayor of Nashkel to continue the quest but he would have given you experience points and maybe a boost to reputation.

The body next to garrison is probably Minsc
