How about this for a sinking feeling. (Bare in mind, not iron man, lots of reloads, just a casual rpg player)
After spending many many hours wandering throughtout the game with my lawful good party (no Paladin or Barbarian for some reason, maybe next time) and completing most of the quests, watching Cuthbert and Luz, rescuing the wife from the beginning, slaughtering evil holy men and experiencing hours of frustration at the balor on the fire elemental node before figuring out a truely unique solution to his demise (I wonder how you would solo this guy and I know about the thief trick). Not to mention hooking up with Bertram, Meleny and miss I'm gonna let the spiders kill her to stop her looting corpses. Meeting random encounter npc bard guy. Getting the not quite so powerful as the prince's bastard sword and medals from the grateful trapped then rescued prince. Essentially I've completed the majority of the lawful good game and seen the various endings (bit disapointing in the stupid slides; where's my 15 minutes of FMV like Final Fantasy VIII), without destroying the skull. However, imagine the sinking feeling I get when Burne's apprentice tells me what I need to destroy it. Uh do you really mean that one item that I sold to the trading posts before exposing them to Burne, the ones that no longer talk to me, the only item in the game that no other shop, or location, or person has, that cannot be got back without playing the whole game again, (unless someone on the forums knows different, please tell me)? Ah yes you do. Sigh. <lol>
As for the selling the item and completing the trading post quest I only completed it later on in the game because well I don't know why. Oh the howls of despair. I was young and inexperienced at level 10.
Nevermind, the pains of not being blessed with intelligence to keep an item that not even the smiths in Nulb or Hommlet sell even when they sell masterwork items.
So let this be a lesson to others.
Incidently after installing the official patch the game for this alignment ran vitually bug free, the only two problems I had were:
1) some but not all npcs on leaving the party went aggro.
2) some quests did not initiate through the dialogue whilst in the Temple.
Ah well I'll just have to remember it when I go through with my party of evil thugs. Bwahahahahaha!!!
