A bug about Sorcerers?

In the ToB game manual, it states that the number of spells he can cast per day is 6 (at least at level 4 for first level spells). So my sorcerer is level 12 and the maximum spells per day he can cast is 5 for the spells from levels 1 to 4... Is this supposed to be this way?

Spell progression deviates from the manual at some levels. Dunno which of the two is bugged...

Perhaps one of the bugfixers (official SoA & ToB updates or Baldurdash) will help you.

The Ease of Use mod (all components are optional) includes a spell progression fix by Gebhard Blucher.

actually, it's ok, I reached lvl 13 and noticed I now have 6 lvl 1 spells to cast. As long as I have them (and the ones after, which is a tad more important), everything is all right

The Ring of Wizardry and Ring of Acuity will get you an additional spell in certain levels. These are must-haves for Sorcerors, IMHO.

Ring of Acuity gives only low-level stuff. Not really worth the ring slot if you ask me. Maybe it is if you have multiple mages, though.

But there may be a time when that one extra low level spell can come in handy, particularly in combination with other, much higher level spells. I killed one dragon after removing all its spell protections in part with the aid of Magic Missiles. No, this isn't typical, but it can be very useful in a pinch. Even in ToB, where most battles resolve into "my blast is larger than your blast."
