OK, I know the passages are there as they are on the map that this site provides and were there on my first time playing...

Regular "sliding secrets" are not the issue, just finding secret stairways and especially the ladder that leads to the Orb of Golden Death area on Temple Dungeon level 3. Searching appears to do no good. Detect secret spell and true seeing spell are useless as well. And it's not just that area either, the central staircase shortcut down to the great room on level 2 (from the temple interior) will not appear either.

Has anyone else had this problem? This sux!!!


OH, and I went back to the moathouse as well - sure enough, I never found any of those secrets either. And with a 10th level Ranger with maxed out search and an elf in the party, you would think this would not be an issue to find these things.

Looks like yet another bug that the first patch did not fix (maybe).

Do you have the Co8 Patch installed?
That's what caused the problem for me. Exactly the same, some doors just couldn't be found no matter what.
Never had that problem without the Co8 patch.

nope. just the official atari patch. and it was installed the first time I played through without problems. In fact, I'm going to start another new game and see if I have the same issue or whether something in my save game file got corrupted or something. other than that, I don't know what else to do because I can't get to the skull.

i found that if you miss the doors the first time, or find them but don't use them. they become unusable. i remember playing the old module version of Ad&d and they temple agents always blocked up secret doors which had be found out. i know this is no help to your quest now, but keep it in mind for your next one.

Had the same problem as you Lammbo, I couldn´t find the ladder that leads to Orb of the Golden skull. Then I read this thread and tried searching for it and I found it with my lvl 9 rouge (search 12) so It it might not be a bug (at least not for me anyways)

BTW: I have only the official Atari patch installed
