npc's leaving me

it seems that some npc's that have joined up withme are leaving the team as soon as I enter a new area and to top it off they turn and attack me as well.
is this a bug or have I done something wrong? and how ccan I change it?

The hirelings mostly do quit on you
But there have already been many dozens of threads about that. This game is about three months out from release. It wasn't ever properly patched, and probably won't ever be (by the Atari/Troika duo, anyway).
The English-speaking gamers who are also into message forum watching have mostly abandoned all of the ToEE forums now, so it's only late arrivals who bought the game discounted or folks from distant non-English speaking parts of the world who got the game late and now are hoping for help.
The SEARCH function at Atari works well enough. There's too much variation among different hirelings to take time now and summarize all their behaviors, sorry. I'm playing other games now and already killed most of the ToEE bookmarks. Some of them get upset at being dragged into alignmment conflicts, so consider that before doing things out of character.
