HotU: Crafting Skills?

After playing around for the weekend in Hoards of the Underdark, I have yet to find much use for the Craft Armor skill. Sure, I can make basic, non-magical armors, but I'm finding a whole lot more really neat armors in the basic dungeon. Has anyone put this skill, or the Craft Weapon skill to good use?

Well, in the First Campaign I've had a lot of fun redesigning my Character's Armor (Chain Mail, lost the sword arm to show off her tattos, changed the shield arm into plate mail, added spikes to her right leg, and changed the belt as well as added a leather neck guard.) and Weapon (Long Sword, simply fancied it up and was told by a friend that it sort-of looks like either a +2 or +3 Weapon.), but that might not be the answer that you were looking for.
