For all my life I've been a PC gamer, but now I have decided to jump into the console gaming market. I decided to get an Xbox for Christmas and need some suggestions for good games, preferrably games that are not really short and have multiplayer options.
I have already played some of the ported Xbox games on my computer, so I don't really want to pay for them:
1) Halo
2) Knights of Old Republic
3) Splinter Cell

If you like GTA, check out True Crime, where instead of being a criminal, you're a bad ass cop. It's got a very modern (tons and tons of rap) soundtrack, so that might turn you off. But it's got a lot of driving, 2 pistols, machineguns. It's got a little of every genre...even some RPG elements (good cop vs. bad cop...and if you're a good cop and have completed every mission properly, you get the best ending. If you're a bad cop, expect a "bad" ending). Plus, Christopher Walken is one of the voice actors.

The mention of Christopher Walken has me sold

Hmm, I've already played Morrowind and the GTA games on my computer. However, I think I'll pick up Soul Caliber 2 and Dark Alliance. Also, due to the fact that I don't have broadband Internet connection, I doubt that I can play Xbox Live. Also, does anyone know a good racing/sports games for Xbox?

@humanflyz...You might want to check out ign.com's Xbox editor's choice.
@Aegis....

I'm not actually sure what part he has in the game though. I think he's the narrator. Hell, I don't even have an Xbox.

I know a guy who raves about the new Project Gotham racing game. He plays for 8+ hours straight. Unfortunately its best feature is that its an XBOX Live game so it might not be for you.

If you want a good racing game, check out Wreckless. It's not really racing as opposed to drive with massive destruction. The story and cut scenes are awful but the game play is insane including vehicles like a ferrari, dump truck, 30's style sedan, and so on. Most levels usually have you trying to break stuff or destroy other target vehicles. It's a riot.

Not that I really play these nex-gen consoles, but I read the preview (or was a review?) for SC2 in Gamepro magazine. According to them, each version of that game (Xbox, Gamecube, and PS2) has a special cameo character in them. The Gamecube version has Link, while the PS2 version has one of the guys from the Tekken games (forgot his name), and the Xbox version, has the famous comic anti-hero, Spawn.
Also, which country do you live in? I heard that the American version also has 3 special characters of its own, though I didn't hear about anything much concerning any other versions (except the original version of SC2 from Japan).
Pretty interesting, huh?

I will eventually try Morrowind.
Oddworld Munch's Oddysey is fun, hopefully I will pass it one day.
ESPN Football 2K4 trumps Madden hands down. Sega Sports in general trumps EA Sports.

Oh yeah, spend the hundreds of dollars searching for a copy of steel batallion. It's worth it even if just to play and then resell it on ebay.

@Ned Flanders:
Heh, I'll probably never pick up Steel Battlion, simply because it requires such a massive controller, and the fact that it's about 300 dollars.
