Is there a quest to the Mind Flayer area in the sewers? I have to go there to get that hammer and I`d like it to be part of a quest.

Nope... it was supposed to be a quest but Bioware didn't have time to implement it so now it's only a mind flayer camp....

if you are looking for an RPG justification to going there, then you might have taken the wrong door when looking for Hier-Dhalis (sp?), also u might be investigating what that key u found in Lord Fiircrags place leads to andf by chance u found the door....

I did it, eventually. Mind Flayers are softies if you can isolate them and hit them with pets.
