chest in fire temple

Besides being the most irritating location in the game due to the jerkiness of the graphics, I cannot seem to open the chest in the fire temple. Is there anything in there worth sweating over? Is there a way to "bash" the chest like in other games?

the walkthrough says that it contains a greatword... i believe the name is frostband and it's a +3 magic greatsword... although i can't open the stupid chest so i wouldn't know for sure...

My rogue picked the lock on that one, and YES, it was worth it. Even if you don't find anything you want, I'm guessing the gold you can get for selling what you find will make you pretty happy.
