I am getting fed up of Aerie wingeing about rather being back in the clouds that I decided to take her back to the circus...however when entering Waukeens Promenade I am met by Del and 3 Vampires that keep level draining my party and I can't find a way to kill them - I can't use magic because the Council magican thingys appear.
I have just completed Chapter 2. Should I not come back here again till later? Anyone suggest a way to kill Del and her friends?
Should I just ditch Aerie and forget about coming back?

You could blast them with Daystar. Daystar is in a chest guarded by a lich in a secret room in the city gates tavern.

Go to the government district, council building, and you can buy a magic licence from someone in there - then cowled mages won't appear every time you cast a spell

The cowled wizards come even if it isnt an AE spell. I casted a sequencer spell and the cowled wizard came and told me not to cast magic

If you want to avoid the Vampires you could rest on the street until its daylight. The guard will come but eventually you will be able to rest for 8 hours.

Use cleric spells, those the cowled wizards ignore.
Also dont stay during the night in the streets, true there is a few enconters that you dont fight or fight shadow thives and get some nice stuff but that one is...tricky if you dont have some anti-undead weapons/spells ready.

From my exp.:
1) don't show yourself on street at night until you're ready;
2) you are supposed to meet Del anyway some night chasing some named Shadow thief, though the district and night are more or less random. I've met them in the Promenade, on the Bridge, at the Gates and, IMO, even in the Government District, too. So, most probably, you'll meet him anyway, just have a patience and 5,000 for license
In fact Turn Undead level high enough is more of use then wizard spells.
One more note. Both chaser and chase are evil, so if you'd use Holy Smite either will be hurt and turn upon you. No penalties, only a bit confusing.
Hope i haven't mistaken the vampire. though,
L.

Well, if you haven't taken the Shadows thieves side....can't you just choose to not fight the vampires? Say something like..I am not a shadow thief or something? ar am I way off base here

If you work for the Thieves, you can't lie, they're just playing with your mind. Try getting some weapons that do additional damage to undead, for a while I just didn't travel the city at night until i got weapons that worked. Aerie is quite good and has nothing to do with the vampires or anything bad. I say keep her. Mage/Cleric are excellent and she can become quite good! The fourth level Priest spell Negative Plane Protection allows you to avoid level drain. If you don't have a license go inside a building and cast it then walk outside into the battle.

if you use a wand to cast a spell, the wizards wont appear. If you have a wand of monster summoning you can use some creatures to take the hits.
It helps if you have a lot of charges on your wand.
