Help: Nasty bug in Leviathan Hanger

This is my 3rd time playing through KOTOR (PC Version) and I didn't have this problem the 1st 2 times through it.

I've fought Malak the 1st time in on the west side, I go north or south and circle around to the east entrance to fight him the 2nd time (where I lose Bastila), but instead of opening the door and fighting him I die before I can reach the door. I've shut the game down and restarted it but that doesn't help.

Has anyone else seen this problem before, and if so, were you able to get around it?

Thanks!

Well, I can get past it by turning on invulnerability. Once I walk to the door I can turn invulnerability off and continue my game. I don't like seeing CHEATS USED in my save game, but it beats loading an older file and blowing away several hours of game play.

What are you dying from--just simply, suddenly, inexplicably dying without a cause? I've played through that area in two games, on the Xbox and PC, and never encountered the problem you have. Have you tried returning to a game save or autosave right before that encounter?

As I head toward the east door, I cross a line of squares on the floor, my character's body jerks and I get a message that my entire party has been killed.

When I use the invulnerability cheat I can get to the door. Then I turn off the cheat, fight Malak, watch the cut-scene and head back toward the hanger with Carth. When I hit the line again the same thing happens, but this time my party doesn't die because Carth didn't get to the line when I did. When my character gets back up from the floor he's over the line and can continue on. It doesn't seem to affect Carth when he crosses the line.

This is my 3rd time playing the game, and the first time this has happened to me. It does it everytime I re-load my save game (saved at that point), and even when I load up the previous autosave.

It's very odd. fortunately the cheat has allowed me to continue the game.

That is...odd. It sounds very much like the electrical field which surrounds the Elder complex on the Unknown World (this isn't a spoiler; it's perfectly obvious when you run across it). I can only think of two possibilities: 1) that somehow the coding for the electrical field got "mixed in" with your current scene, or 2) there's an in-game computer option you did/didn't use that somehow sets/keeps that field. Did you use the ship's computer to remove all force fields?
