How do I defeat Xvim. He seems to be immune to all types of damage. Even my Palidan with the Holly Avenger and buffed up can not damage him.

I forget how I beat him but I don't recall needing to do anything special. I think he may have cast an aegis or some other protection spell first but after it wore off I just beat him to a pulp. I must admit that was one of the best fights in the game though.
