Now that I took Yoshimo to Spellhold...there are no pure thieves to take? That sucks! Why did they do this? You would have to make a thief for yourself, which sucks! jan is the only one left who can advance, and that is 1/2 because of multiclass! I am pissed now. What if you don't take Yoshimo to Spellhold? will he betray you when you come back?

you can cleanse his heart at a temple and bring him back to life.

I took Yoshimo's heart to the temple and he didn't come back for me. How do you make him come back??????

@rushmore, that method is to cleanse you loved one after bodhi turned him/her to vampire, not yoshimo,
anyway, that bastard deserves to die, if the movie show he and irencius die in the same place, i would be happier

I believe Yoshimo was under a Geas, a curse forcing him to obey Irenicus. Maybe have a little compassion for the traitor, as funny as that sounds. While I've never tried to take his heart to the alter, isn't it supposed to release his soul from Irenicus' curse? Someone help me out, here. Drakron?

@Rail....yes he was...there is a scroll listed in the cheats...to remove a Geas...I never found it though...

A curse, no its a spell (a mage and cleric spell), that "remove geas" must have cone from BG I, were there was a quest that needed that scroll.

What's the meaning of Geas?

It's a spell that curses you into following through with a quest of sorts, IIRC. This is all from my memory of PnP D&D, though. Drakron will give you a better answer. He's our resident reference manual.

Drakron check your mail....
Yes it most likely is (Remove Geas)...if I go thru the game again...I'm going to see if I can CLUAC... it in to BG2.

I dont need to check, "geas" is the name of a spell, after being cast the caster can give a mission to the one under the spell, if he refuses, he dies.
He is alowed to made a saving trow againt it and it does have some problems with some the aligments.
After finishing the mission, the spell ends.

Thanx Drakron. I thought it was a typo for "gas", and I wanted to use the dialog.tlk Editor to correct it, heh.
Funny...Drakron's posted the answer before my question; it's above my post!

You don't need a scroll to remove the geas. A priest in a temple can do that, just bring the heart with you.

Yoshimo doesn't tell you about his Geas till its too late though - the wimpy thief in BG1 does and you can do something about it. Which leads me to believe Y is none too bright or he is a tad evil - it was easier to side with 'renicus than help out the protagonist.
I've gone thru this before. Why have Yoshimo "go weasel" (
)? He is the only pure thief in the game. He is a great NPC. Of course, you decide to take him to help in your dungeon crawling escapades. He betrays you. You kill him. You have 1 space in your party. Oh look, Imoen is free. You now have a kick-a mage and a thief for the few remaining traps in the game. How convenient and what a nice story of betrayal under duress and repentance.
Alternative: Have a thief component to your character (pure or multi/dual). Then have Yoshimo sit out the entire game in 'renicus dungeon playing with himself. Ha ha.
