Racist - Help!

Post by Witch King »

I haven't spoken to you chaps in quite a while...and when i do...I need something! How typical of me...so here's the question, in the racist world of BGII, only humans can dual class (!) for some reason. My goal in my recent re-playing of the game, was to dual a fighter over to mage at 9th. However, i chose a half-elf, and cannot do this now. I REALLY don't want to replay all the areas I've been through. What can I do? How can I shift my Race? Is there an editor or something? An option?

All thoughts welcome.

So, how have the boards been?

Come not between the Witch King and his prey, or he will not slay thee in thy turn, but will bear thee away to the houses of lamentation, beyond all darkness, where thy flesh shall be devoured, and thy shrivelled mind be left naked to the lidless Eye.

Download Shadowkeeper, that's a save game editor that allows you to change your characters in almost any way you want.
Changing your race is no problem with SK ;)

Numinor- that was fast! Thank you. Now, I have never used an editor before, and have few proficiency slots in PC- this thing easy to use? Do I just run the exe?

I believe it to be making a point towards how the human race is the more versitle one in the lands of Faerun, and that the other races are more stubborn towardas change, and doing what they do, because it is comfortable, while the humans are able to adapt to change.

SK is very user friendly. Just the run the .exe, make sure you aren't in the game, and open your saved game in SK :)
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach

Aegis of the incredibly long sig:

that's crazy-talk! think about the literature (not just tolkien) the BGII world is based upon- people of many races had many different specialties, and occupations. humans were seldom mages, and certainly other races effectively "dual-classed." i think it's as silly as the way D&D (the original for those who remember it) used to limit the level races could climb to (even Elves!).

The humans not multi only dual was okay by me and so was the other races multi but not dual. We never used the level limit because that felt just stupid. (I used to die long before those limits anyway hehe).
Also as I recall rolling up a character that was allowed to dual was very rare.

Though only humans may dual class, one must remember that they are the only race that cannot multi-class, and so the game is ot racist. It just adds variety, for the game would be less fun if every race could be every kit/allignment.

There is an element in the game that's a bit racist: the romances. All four love interests are very restricted that way. For instance, if you're a gnome, no way you are romancing Jaheira, no matter how pretty you are :p

Then why can gnomes romance Aerie ? That would be weird children...
Perhaps gnomes with wings :D

More like the other races are all cleverer than humans because they can learn two different things at once, whereas humans have to concentrate on one thing at a time or they get all confused. ;)

Aerie is probably not against romancing a gnome because Quale is one.

BTW just wanted to point out... Black Isle can make the game any way they want and everyone else can change the game any way they wat. If your whining about the racism... go download the all races romance patch... Get that obnoxious Elf-hater next to the fountain in W Promenade killed... etc.
The reasoning behind it all is that Black Isle decided that humans like change more, not Tolkien, not Jordan, not LeGUin... Black Isle. THey made the game, change it if you want.

As for the love quests, same reasoning, and BTW if your elf you can't romance Vic

@Ekental: One of the things that people do on these forums is express their thoughts on this game, giving and asking opinions. That's what these forums are for.
Nobody was 'whining' about the race-restrictions in the game. Their was just some talk about why Black Isle created the the game this way.
Of course there are patches and game editors to fix the things you don't like but that doesn't mean you can't come to the GB forums and talk about what you like or don't like about these games. That's not whining, it's just giving an opinion, ok? :)

actually, black isle did NOT make those rules, it was the original good old folks that were with, and followed gygax- the rule base all d&d-based rpgs follow.

btw, using leguin in the same sentence as tolkien smacks of heresy.
