Have you noticed how the fire damage from this weapon comes from a spell. Magic resistance stops it and spell turning reflects the fire damage back to you. Annoying really.

Isnt that because it shoots magical bolts (you dont need ammo)

I have never seen that happening with gesens bow.
Maybe there is a fix for this.

Anyone seen if the Baldurdash mega-fix deals with the issue?

No, I didn't see a fix for this at the Baldurdash site.

This could actually be used to your advantage. If you give the Cloak of Mirroring to the character that uses Firetooth, you should be able to waste the opponent's spell turning as the bolts bounce back and forth between you. I've never tried it with Firetooth, but I know it works with Magic Missile: a little pink volley ball bounces back and forth until the Spell Turning absorbs its maximum spell levels. Since the cloak doesn't have a max, the bad guys always drop the ball. :D

Of course, this wouldn't work with Magic Resistance, but you could always put actual bolts (or better yet a Case of Plenty) in the ammo slots. A side benefit is that the bonuses to hit will stack with Firetooth's.

Ah clever!!
But magic resistance willl always stop the damage even if you equip normal bolts, the damage is just added not altered. But the spell turning thing sure sounds promising. :D

Well, magic resistance would stop Firetooth's magic damage, but it shouldn't stop the normal damage from the bolt. But then again, logic doesn't always work in these situations, so I am only guessing. It might be worth testing.

Okay I may have been unclear. Magic resistance stops the fire damage. Not the bolt damage or magic bolt damage. But what you said before works well. With cloak of mirroring and firetooth you take down spell turning quickly. Especially with the odl cloak of mirroring :D
