Well I have a good one here as well..In the dungeon at Helms Hold there is a trapped chest..I have tried everything to get rid of the trap and open the box..am playing a fighter and have Tommi with Me....He can't disarm the trap...I have saved right at the chest and have even bashed the chest with everything I can lay hands on..the only thing I have succeded in doing is dieing ......over and over and over...can this chest be disabled and opened ?

If this is the chest I think it is - then it is a questiong that keeps popping up.

yes I went and saw that link.. thnx ....what I need to hear from is someone like Me that is palying a pure {no magics at all} melee, that has opened the chest....anyone ??

i haven't read that link in discussion.. but have u tried shooting at i with heavy crossbows?

I have tried with a heavy crossbow ......but it is possible I didn't have the right bolt to disable the chest...all I had was the standard bolt and a few bolts of piercing ....but they did nothing..

yes, it is possible. chests have high damage reduction so normal bolts may not deal enough damage. piercing is not a good choice either as chests are also highly resistant to piercing damage. i would suggest fire bolts or something, or if u have bows, use fire arrows. chests should not be able to resist fire damage. but unless u already have the items, i would not suggest bothering with the chest. while it may contain some worthwhile magical items to boost your cashflow, there is little need to aim to get a good weapon from there. it is after all a post-chapter 1 map, and likely u can get better weapons after this... <spoiler>like in helm's hold for instance </spoiler>

yeaaaa shift........the chest is in Helms Hold....and for some odd reason I have gotten all kinds of really good arms and stuff from the trapped chests I have busted thus far....I wanted to know about this chest in Helms Hold dungeon....cause the next charactor I bring up I wanted to bust the chest..the charactor I am currently playing is a 1/2 elf ...true neutral....and I am now in the creator ruins looking for the word...maybe you have noticed something odd there as well .......might just be something for another string

maybe you're more liberal with what u consider worthwhile items, and i've never built a combat oriented char that does not choose weapons to use b4... so most items go to the shopkeepers for cash. which to me is not worthwhile if i have to get the bows and arrows to do so..
