I am enjoying this game so far except one thing: I can't seem to rest in the TOEE without getting "interrupted". I can usually heal myself so all I need to do is memorize spells.

I am new to the 3.5 rules and think it takes 1 day to memorize spells. I tried 8 hours and then another 8 hours with no interruptions but also no spells memorized.

My party is level 7 and I've found lots of secluded rooms and even tried closing the door but I never get a green tent icon. Is there a room/area in the TOEE where you can rest for sure?

safe place to rest

On level two on the west side of the map there is a group of brigands. They are down a long hallway and their barracks is at the end of it. After cleaning out the bad guys you have a decent chance of resting in their room. I find I can rest successfully about half the time.

Circular stairwell is safe enough

From the main level of the temple, about in the middle, you can enter a stairwell. My parties were never disturbed there. In the game design, a room on the first level was supposed to be safe as well (a hideout room used by the NPC named Wonnilon). But enemies still wake you in there, even if they don't always attack.

Incidentally, there are often cleared spaces in which it is possible to rest for 8 hours without being disturbed (other than the stairwell, resting until healed is always going to be interrupted). Thus, you can cast all your healing/curing spells, re-memorize the spells and repeat.
