Paladin silenced

This is a problem i've had since i completed the matchmaking quests in hommlet. My paladin is permannetly silenced!!!!! yes permanently.I also started earlier saves and no hes permannetly silenced in them too.Whats the deal with this ,is it just a glitch.The spell timer is stuck on 687/700. Any ideas???
