Slaves??

I ran into a person in some town who sells slaves for 1000 gold, are they any use?

Not yet. You may have to buy one for a mission sometime in the future, or so I've heard. But you don't need them. If you really suck at fighting, they fight for you, but they're not very good. They also don't carry anything of yours (or at least not much).

Is it possible to change their weapon in-game?

No, that's not possible. IMHO those slaves are a bit of a pain... You constantly will have to make sure they're still with you because they're probably not as fast as you and they're bad at climbing and they get in your way when you fight.

Heh, I bought them and released them. Just to ease my conscience, since I've stolen quite a bit from... well... Everyone! ;>
And yes, there is one "special slave" you will need later on, but you can't buy her before you get to a certain mission.

hum....my very very cruel Dark Elven Assassin would love to slit their throats...legally. So all I have to do is buying them? I see trees of greeeeeeeeeeen, red roses two................

Wood Elf Assassin, and I was a member of the Twin Lamps. It's amazing how this game lets you be so similar, yet so different...

...there but none of those. The only real application for those ("regular") ones is let them free. The slaves you may really need to buy on occasion or two (depends on your choice of House) really are rather sort of special ones and become available only if you've got the quest.
