Can't get plot to advance -- Advice?

Background: I am LV55 and have been appointed ArchMage of both House Telvanni and the Mages Guild though I also belong to the Fighter and Thieves guilds to a much lesser extent. I've completed the construction of my stronghold and have recovered the artifact SUNDER from Red Mtn though not via quest -- I just happened upon it. I've 'Arranged a Meeting' with one of the Tribes for Skink@Saddrith but that's as far as I can get. Nobody has any quests for me. I've visited all of the tribes Wise Women but they won't give me anyhting to do. I know that I need to recover Keening and Wraithgaurd (read doc in Vivec's chamber) before I meet Dagoth Ur...
So what's next? How do I advance the plot?
Are the other two artifacts also hidden within Red Mtn?

If you're the Head of Telvani or Mages Guild nobody there is going to issue any quest. And it's hardly related with main plot. The only one who gives you main storyline is Casius.
BTW, it's quite possible to be the head of almost all available factions (you only have to chose between Houses). Although there can be some conflicts of interests, they often has a solutinon not harming your position in both factions involved.
Altogether i do not recall a faction having a quest for their leader with exception of Houses (for duties actually outside of the stright ascending line) and Morag Tong (only after finishing the main plot).
The best of all, you still may be expelled even if you're the head of a faction
Regarding two remaining artefacts - Vivec himself is going to give you the key one on certain conditions. Obviosly, it is not on the slopes of Red Mountain (since Vivec isn't here). You may also get it other way, however you're going to find out what to do with it all by yourself then and, as i've heard, it's going to never have the full power for you, since Vivec is suppossed to teach you how to use it.
Somebody may (and has to) have a hint where to get another
As you may guess again, that one is in the Red Mountain region.

I've already exhausted Casius's quests. He appointed me Operative and left Balmora. He said that I am in charge of the Blades. I appreciate your commentary but this still does not fully answer my question. Whom should I speak to next? What important element am I overlooking?
That only thing that sux about this is that I won't be able to try your suggestions as my XBOX is out for service -- D'oh!

The quest you mention SKink's quest has nothing to do with advancing the main plot, Skink's quest are an alternate way to progress to the top of the Mage guild, so I'm not really sure what else to tell you as I said Skink's quest has nothing to do with the main quest.

Strange. The futher quests should come from Wise woman anc chief in Urishlaku camp, IIRC. Have you got the Moon-and_Star? Try all options in conversation with Wise Woman here, esp. about trials and Nerevarine. Check your journal if you have the Nerevarine quests for all four tribes. You also should became the Hortator (sp?) of all tree Houses. If your reputation is noticable high you may also get an invitation to meet Vivec even without finishing those quests, however (happens to me all the time).
Oh, BTW, have you followed the Casius last advice and seen Mehra Milo (sp?) in Vivec? It's the key, you have to find and rescue her to advance any futher.

No, I have not found the Moon and Star. In fact, I have not been sent to find it. The last I spoke with her I Arranged a Meeting with her asst. in the Tomb. My reputaion is 27. The last I dealt with Mehra Mila was at Holleran (sp?) the library. She said she wanted to stay.

Have you rescued her then? There's another NPC in the same hall in that secret monastery you should have a long talk with. Be sure you've covered all topics here. You should gain the knowledge on Lost Prophecies and with that knowledge return to Urshilaku Wise Woman.

OK. Went back to Holleran. Spoke with Mehra and priest. lots of Journal updates. Got the Moon & Star plu smany other items. Spoke with Wise Woman. She told me about prophecies. More updates. Sent me to Kargaron (sp?) but I had already been there. Long story. (When I got corpus and Dagoth Ur said to come to Red Mtn I took it literally and went. Along the way I stumbled upon Kargaron and found Sunder, the Shield and cup) The problem is that I sold the cup to Creeper not knowing that I would need it. And somehow all of Creeper's inventory got vaporized -- god only knows how. Now I have the Shield and the Corpus Weepeings for the Wise Woman but I'll be damned if I can find another cup to give her. I have recovered the artifacts Sunder & Keening but need Wraithgaurd to weild them. I know Vivec is supposed to give it to me but since I don't have the cup for the wise woman I can't complete the quest to get invited to see Vivec. Is there any other way to accomplish this? The only cup I've seen, and I've explored most everywhere in Red Mtn, is the one from Kargaron and it seems to be gone forever. Help me obi-wan.

Are you on PC or xbox? On PC you can summon the cup of 6x House using console. (Since i do not remeber the exact name of the item and am not so far in current game to look into it, i cannot find its id).
About the other way... I've run into it several times having high reputation (above 50) and being both Archipriest and the Head of a House. When speaking with my sponsor in the House i was getting the invitation to talk with former Archipriest of the Temple (the one who had given me the Four Courners and Ebony Mail quests). When i went here i was directed to the Palace of Vivec to have an audience with God in person. I definitely wasn't the Hortator of all Houses at this point because it was to be recognized the Hortator of my House i came to talk about.

I am on XBOX so I can't enter commands via keyboard. My rep is 30. Level 65. I don't belong to the temple, morag tong, or imperial legion but I do belong to the Geez, I'd hate to have to complete 20 more quests to boost my rank to 50+ just to get that stupid cup that I already got. Like Dwemer cups, there should be many 6th House cups just incase. This makes me really mad as I have played for 200+ hours and now my investment is in jeapardy. So do I have to join the Temple and complete those quests too???

Not sure abot the necessity to be in Temple. However, i always join the Morag Tong first. There's a lot of reputation here, and i do not wish to kil somebody by accident i may have a writ for latter (so losing a rep.point because such kill is not counted honorable). Then i usually make my career in both Temple (because very soon it may became difficult for reason of your claimed name) and Cult. Both are profitable enough in terms of reputation and give me reason to travel all around the Morrowind.
Of course, first thing in Balmora is to join Mages, Fighters and Thieves, altogether i do not feel so necessary to take over those at once.

Yes I joined the Mages (Archmage), Telvanni (Archmagister), Thieves (ah, ah hmm Footpad? I finished the Balmora and Ald Run quests), Fighters (warder) guilds. So my squestion is still do I have to join more guilds and complete more quests to get an ivite to see Vivec? Or, is there another way? Or is there somewhere else to find another cup?

Nobody knows. Altogether for sure you aren't obliged to fullfill the Prophecy completely, all what's required is to kill Dagoth Ur (and somebody more in GOTY, altogether it is not related to this particular problem). And even it does not mean the end of the game, no tantara, flowers and birthday pie
life continues. However you have to have all three items, otherway you cannot destroy the Heart. There was a receip on the web how to finish Morrowind if something is unreparable gone wrong, sorry, cannot recall where ( i'm on pc, you know).

P.S. Nevertheless, if i were you, i'd try to raise reputation and see if the matters wouldn't pop out. Morag Tong would be first (if you haven't killed to many of people havin writs hanging), Imperial cult also gives good amount of easy reputation. I believe, the Hortator's question even do not pop up when you're speaking with your sponsor in House and othee Councilmen. You may try also the Temple if Ordinators aren't hunting you already (i.e. if your claim to be Nerevarine aren't brought out in public). You may even (saving before, of course) try to talk with the Archpriest about the matters.

I'll give it a try. The Ordinator's try and kill me on sight since earlier in the game I killed a few after taking one or their armors -- oops. By the time I found out this was a bad thing, it was far too late to go back. I'll keep the forum updated as to my progress. Hindsight is 20/20. The next game I start will be done right the first time and completed in half the time to be sure.

OK. I joined the Temple in Vivev. The priest gave me The Pilgrims Path and said to make 7 pilgrimages. So I did. That is until the Puzzle Canal. I had found that shrine earleir in the game and killed the Dremora so I coulndn't give him the Silver Sword to read the Shrine to finish the quest -- damnit.
So far I lost the cup so I cant finish the Ashlander Quest. And now I found out that I killed the Dremora so I can't finish the Temple quest.
I suppose that I could join the Morag Tong and finish the fighters and thieves quests to boost my rep so I can get invited to see Vivec. Sheesh. Wouldn't it have been easier for Bethesda to have put even one more cup in the game? Out of all the 6th Houses, that was the only one!!!! Now since their software glitched and lost my cup I have to jump through dozens more hoops to accomplish the same thing -- this sucks.

Well, I killed Lord Vivec, and as I thought 'the thread of phrophecy was severed'. I was able to get the Dwarf in Tel Fyr to activate Wraithgaurd and to destroy the heard and kill Dagoth Ur but when visit the Urshiaku (sp?) camp they have no idea that he's dead. How do I get declared the Nevarnine or can I?
NOTE: I started a new game and within 8 hours I was up to LV20, had full Glass armor, joined all three guilds, the temple, Morag Tong plus a few quests. This represents about a 10 fold increase in efficency from the last game.
