Bah - so patriots took it home.

Had hoped Panthers could stop the winning streak, but alas, they couldn't.

Was a very good match in my oppinion, slow start with some serious defence and .... 2 missed fieldgoals :D

But end of second quater and onwards - glad I stayed awake for it .... (AM 04.40 local time)

Good match :)

The Panthers figured out that they could exploit Patriots secondary - but not until the second half. Once they committed to the pass they moved the ball with ease.

The Patriots did an inspired job of stopping the run.

The difference in the second half was the Patriot's offensive line - Brady was rushed - but by the end of the game the Panthers front four looked beaten - and couldn't get a decent push. If you think about it - the Panthers did not stop the Patriots at all in the second half. If it wasn't for the Brady interception in the endzone the Pats would have won by 10.

Anyway - Jake Delhomme is for real - too bad the Panthers didn't pass more in the first half - that dude can heave it.

The best team won - but for a Bill's fan it is a bitter pill. Man I hate the Patriots...

Yeah - each time I saw the Panthers trying to run in the first half I literally sat screaming that they couldn't go through there :D

Wonderfull 85 yard TD pass to Panthers also :D (to that guy whos name I can't spell :D )

I was mad they didn't run the ball more :D

Carolina's defense was on the feild way to much, and they wore down in the second half.Davis only had 10 rushes in the first half. Davis is a runner who gets 1-3 yard gains in the first , 2-3 yard gains in the second, 3-5 in the third, and breaks loose in the fourth. I wanted them to run more to wear NE's defense down, but it's insane to run toos plays with Davis against the Pats D. Panthers wound up playing a game they don't normally play.

And the halftime Janet incident was something to see too :p

HELL YEAH!

HELL YEAH!

What an awesome performance by the Patriots. Man, shivers are still going up and down my spine...ahhhh...feels just as good as the first one.

Looked just as good as the first one.

Thank you Bob Kraft for bringing a winning team to the Boston area! We have waited so long for teams to pull through for us. Now weve got a team we can really be proud of!

Thank you, all Patriots players. It has been a thrill to watch you all season, and Im so glad the Pats pulled through to just put the right end to the near perfect season.

I like the Panthers, and I feel bad for them. I feel bad for Delhomme who played his heart out, and Fox who has done a masterful job.

But Im much happier for the Patriots! WELL DONE!

Awww man, the Panthers lost. They just didn't play any D in the last quarter, and that completely made them lose the game. :(

But this game sure was exciting. I was on the edge of my seat up until the very last play. Oh well, this season was still an amazing turnaround for the panthers, who went 1-15 only two seasons ago.

I heard some artists kind of stole the show... :D

Indeed they did - I'm still unsure wether or not Timberlake (or what he is called) and Janet Jackson had that one worked out.
Didn't seem all to coencidential to me, to much "evidence" points to it was a staged gimic.

Just a case of Janet looking for some PR. She ain't as young and hip as Beonce - so I guess you do what you have to.

Janet is still hot - but she is also "over" ;)

Yup, 100% sure it was set up.
It seems like the only way "artists" can get publicity these days is to show their **** (or just one) or kiss another girl (or two).... what's next?

I've never really been into the superbowls before but I decided to stay up and watch most of it (excluding the medicore half time "entertainment") and was thoroughly entertained, bar the obvious stop-start nature of the game which I don't think I'd ever get used to.

I was particularly impressed with the Panther's quaterback, he wasn't being entirely consistent but there were a few passes that were just amazing.

Funnily enough I was rooting for New England for some reason...

It was planned, but she was supposed to be wearing a red bra underneath, not flash at everyone. A "wardrobe malfunction" is being blamed. You'd have thought she would have noticed she wasn't wearing her lingerie... :D

Well - according to one image I've seen (linked from another board - a closeup) she had some .... "decoration on" - so it was definately not a wadrope mistake (could be a fake picture, don't look like it though).
It was intentionally from her side at least. That lumberjack ... eehh timberlake - didn't seem all to surprised either :)

@Sleep: The start and stop nature of the game annoys me also, mostly all thoese comercial breaks they put in ... irritates me when I'm used to the fluid nature of "real football" :D

I actually never watch the half time show anyways, so didn't see the "incident". Other then on the news and on the internet :D

Sounds more like an excuse to get the superbows and network people of their back to me.

sorry i cant input into the sophisticated actual sporting discussion (english), but on the matter of the half time show, I think it was obviously a gimic, as how on earth would he reach across and pull her...breastplate...without knowing it would come off. what other reason could there be to do it?

Yeah there is big money involved in the stop start nature of American Football, the amount they pay to be put on at those times is astonomical.

Mar, well Janet is a bit old for Just Trousersnake but i'm sure she could teach him a thing or two...about music of course.

I read over on CNN.com that Janet Jackson's breat-baring is the most replayed event in the history of Tivo. This is pathetic considering that while her surgically-enhanced mammaries are very nice, if I had Tivo, I'd be checking out the equally-as-nice surgically-enhanced breasts on Skinemax's "After Dark" soft-core movies that are much better lit and on screen for longer than a fraction of a second.

Now, back to actual football discussion:

Jake Delhomme deserved to be the game MVP. Despite a horrible start and being smacked around by the Patiots defensive front, he put up 323 yards, 3 TDs, 0 INTs and nearly won the game. There is precedent for a player on the losing team (Chuck Howley, Dallas, Super Bowl V) winning the MVP and no one Patriot stood out enough to deserve the free Cadillac.

Adam Vinatieri just made himself a lock for the Hall of Fame. He's played 8 years, is 31 years old and has probably 7 or 8 more seasons left. His career numbers are 212 of 263 FGs and has 915 total points. If he has even average numbers for the next five or six years, he's going to the Hall of Fame for the two Super Bowl-winning kicks, plus the 2 "Snow Bowl" kicks. He may not be a first-ballot guy (like Gary and Morton Anderson), but he's going to Canton.

People are touting this last Super Bowl as the Greatest of All Time. While the ending was good, are people forgetting what a snoozefest the first third was? It's hard to compare one year to another, but the Giants-Bills (a "Wide Right" that didn't involve Florida State), Rams-Titans (Dyson on the 1), Pittsburgh-Dallas (2.0, Bradshaw 4 TDs, Staubach 3 TDs), 49ers-Bengals (Montana vs. Esiason) and Denver-Green Bay were all great games.

What's the "blueprint" that everyone will be copying this year? How do you quantify smart salary cap management, excellent coaching and depth? You start with stacking your offensive and defensive lines. After being deposed by ESPN, TMQ has resurfaced over at NFL.com and says here that the deserved MVP of the game was undrafted Patriots offensive tackle Tom Ashworth who held first-round pick Julius Peppers to 2 tackles, 0 hurries, 0 sacks and 0 knockdowns. In fact, the Patriots surrendered 0 sacks during their entire playoff run and by having a good rotation and lots of depth, they showed that you can win the Big One with average receivers, no running game and a QB of average physical ability.

It's great when the game is better than the ads. Still my favourite was the NFL Network's "Tomorrow" spot with Bill Parcells, Jerry Jones and everyone else who was watching the game from home.

Personally - I didn't think first quater was terrible bad.

2 missed field goals, great defensive work from both teams and so on.

Personally - I enjoy good defence more in american football then teams that run through and score each time. Good hits, interceptions, sacks and so on - that is what makes american football fun.
