The MetroSexual Male

Recently I was introduced to a new term: "MetroSexual"
At the time, it was explained to me that a metrosexual guy is a straight (usually urban) male who appreciates things like skin care products, manicures, spas etc. and is entirely comfortable about admitting he indulges in such luxuries.
However, I have also heard that the term actually refers to a gay male.
So I'm wondering, can anyone out there provide any clarification on the topic?

The meaning of that term that I know of, is like your first mentioned definition.
There was an article in a local paper this morning about it, and they enhanced Beckham as an example. If this is correct by them or not, I don't know.

Metrosexuals are by definition heterosexual, but they don't need a visit from the Queer Eye guys. Professional athletes Derek Jeter and Jason Taylor are also touted as metrosexual.

Metrosexual: (noun) Of or pertaining to a straight, urban male who is eager to embrace and even show off his feminine side, especially when it comes to expensive haircuts, designer suits, and $40 face cream.
The kind of guy who paints his nails, wears flip-flops, owns a lot of shoes, takes an hour to do their hair etc. but is not really gay.

there was a great episode of south park where everyone in town was "acting gay" and being metrosexual. at first the women thought it was great, but eventually they tired of ity and wanted them to be "real men" again. so to tget the back they had to kill the Queer Eye guys, who happened to be Crab people...
so, do women want a man who is into primping themselves and buying Prada shoes? or do they want a man with callousses on his hands and the only fragrance you might catch on him is his deodorant?
and of course there is a wide range in between- such as myself who loves to shop for clothes, but you won't find me getting a manicure and no lotion or scented anything goes on my skin.

lol!
Well having just cashed in the spa gift certificate I received for my Bday some months back... I have to say I don't know how anybody could not enjoy an experience like that, male or female, Mmmm...
Personally, I don't have issues with men who use skincare products, indulge in spas or manicures etc. However (and I view women's products this way too), I really dislike it if whatever scent he is wearing arrives 5 minutes before he does and lingers well after he departs.

Scents should only be really discernible when one gets within kissing range...
Stuff that is subtle and made with mostly natural ingredients is nice though...
Regarding the time one spends on nails, hair and so on... well I have problems with women, let alone men, who spend forever in the bathroom
Making yourself feel good with the products you use is one thing... excessive vanity is quite another...

No, I'm sure they prefer wasting their time by waiting for their hair getting dry when it's -20C outside. Alternatively, they go outside with wet hair, not caring about getting cold damage to their brain, since it doesn't make a difference for them

Maybe real men live in warmer climates? Like Tucson, Arizona?

bah, deodorant. What's wrong with a faint (more or less) natural scent?

I doubt women would want a man that spends as much time as she does infront of the mirror getting ready.
Imagine not every getting to go anywhere

Real men don't use blowdryers.
I blowdry sometimes because my hair is longish, and goes fuzzy if I towel it.

a woman getting ready doesnt notice anyone else around her while shes getting ready, so if you get ready at the same time it matters not, and keeps the man from getting bored too. It also shows the girl that you care enough to try to look nice for her.
and Im a real man

Alright i got one question... the supposed P.O.V. is women wont want a man who spends more or at least same amount of time in front of the mirror as they are..
Yet the listed metrosexual's... Bekhem... Jeter.. ok these guys get more action than a war. Personally I don't think men should "Moisterize" or whatnot but I will admit for Valentines I took my girl for this duel massage deal and I had a deep tissue rubbin and holy crap thats some nice stuff. Now the mud bath and the face deals I dont find too enjoyable.. but if my girl asked me to I might try it.
And I shave my head so I never use a blow dryer.
I mean...
ehh....
*cough* Yeah Grunt men yeah Grunt ergh
Wipe mud on your chin and smell like ass, *grunt*

Bah metrosexual men arent men. They are women with testosterone.
I started this subject on the pakistani forum, and got gang beaten by the teenage women/girls for being chauvinistic and mean to the prissy wimps....grrrr......women today dont want a man. They want a girl friend who sleeps with them and its all hetreo.
