Can you hire more than one mercanary?

I just wanted know If you can have more than one helping hand, and I have all the updates but still can't see there invetory, how do I do that or is it only with more advanced game characters? I am in chapter 2 if that'll make a difrence and tried clicking on the show invetory thing when you right clck on them.

In original NwN and SoU expansion - 1 henchmen is all you can have. In addition you can have summon/familiar/animal companions - but only 1 henchman.

Also in original NwN you can't control their inventory.
In SoU + HotU you can control their inventory.

In HotU expansion you can have 2 henchmen + various of others (summons et al.)

Then there is something wrong, when I try to hire another one, the one I have doesn't follow me any more and his picture does not display in the top right corner, I am still in chapter2 of th normal game, do I need to play in the chapters of HoD to do this?

Only in the HotU expansion - thus requiered to play in thoese chapters - can you have more then 1 henchmen.
