Help with NPC side quests?

I could do with some help with the NPC side quests. I can't get the quests for Carths son or for Canderous' duel to actually activate. I've got bot Carth and Canderous past the specific conversations that I would expect to trigger the quests, but neither of them seem to actualy trigger. I didn't get these quests to trigger the first time I played the game, and I really want to get them this time round.

At the moment, Carth has just given me the "your a very impressive person" speech, and Canderous has just admitted that he reckons he might be able to find worthy opponents if hes tags along with me.

Is it possible that I've gone too far past the specific trigger conversations to be able to set off the quests?

Or am I doing something wrong?

Can't remember if that was past Carth mentioning his son by his name (Dustil) or before, but it seems like you've got Canderous down correctly (has he told you about the battle in which he sacrificed a bulk of his fellow Mandalorians in order to strike a weak spot in the enemy's defences and win the battle?). You can't go too far in a conversation (but you can go far into the storyline, i.e. you have to do the quests before completing the four Star Maps).

The tips I can give you:

1) You won't trigger Carth's quest on Korriban, and you won't trigger Canderous' quest on Tatooine. Go to any other space port (Manaan, Dantooine, Kashyyk) and try to trigger there.

2) You must have the character whose quest you wish to trigger in your party at the moment you exit the Ebon Hawk (that's where the trigger areas are except on Maanan - you'll have to walk a bit down the corridor outside the landing site). So just take both of them into your party for the next point.

3) When you exit the Ebon Hawk, you should get a cutscene with one of their quests. Sometimes, the other quest is triggered immediately (so you get two cutscenes in a row), sometimes it's not (at least that's what I had happen to me). If one of them doesn't trigger (or none of them do), enter the Ebon Hawk, exit, enter, exit, rinse repeat. If the quest isn't triggered in the first few times, though, you haven't got to the right point in their conversations yet.
