Is it really worth it to run Maev'ars guild once I've offed him for Renal Bloodscalp?

Seems like a pain in the butt more than anything else.

As much as any other optional profession-based stronghold, I suppose. Personally, I like the mage and fighter strongholds best, and the paladin stronghold least. (What do you get? A cot in a room. Wow.) There are mods out there that add functionality to the thief and bard strongholds.

Thanks for the insight. I declined his offer, since I really just want to get through SoA to get to ToB.

Is BG Dark Alliance available in PC version? Is it an extension to SoA/ToB?

Unfortunatly...."no" to both of your questions.

ToB is the latest part of the Baldurs Gate series. :(

That's okay. I just saw the Icewind Dale pack (3 games) in the store for $39.99.

Is IWD series as good as BG series?

Same interface?

Comparable NPCs, weapons, gear, quests etc?

Any big changes to the BG experience?

Not the same kind of storyline, more combat-fashioned style, at least on IWD1, cause I've never played the rest of the series.

Changes to the spells and some nice creatures added.

However, IMO, being a Child of Bhaal just kicks...

And IWD is kinda hollow, something like kill the boss, return, buy supplies, pick up the next sword, sell... and there it goes until the end, when a mighty boss comes and is defeated as easy as pie. :D But it is a nice game, very nice indeed to one who has not fall in love with SoA.

Now, about the others, like heart of winter and IWD2, you gotta ask for the others boardmembers.

Not really. BG3 was in the making. Too bad Black Isle got laid off.

It was? I heard that there was a project to make something after BG, but not a BG series game, only using the storyline as basis.

But anyway it will be just nice, i'd be happy to have a third Child of Bhaal or a prequel to BG.

There are quite a few articles on GB dealing with the so called Jefferson Project (which later turned out to be BG3). Here is one of them. If you do a search I'm sure you'll end up with more.

"The story was not a continuation of the Bhallspawn saga. It was an original story, belived to be set in the Dalelands of the Forgotten Realms, sharing the Baldurs Gate name in title only, not plot or story elements. "

Well, this was on the Interplay thread...

And that was what I meant, 4 sure.

My bad, then. I should've probably read up before posting. Sorry for misleading.

Somebody needs to get a fatal disease, go to the Make a Wish foundation, and ask for Black Isle studios to be remade. That would be my wish.

No, no, we both were right to some extent. I thought it will be something like BG Dark Aliance, you just added the Child of Bhaal nearer.

And thank you, otherwise I'd have never confirmed it... :D

Hey, wanna join the heathen? Lol!!!

I think the only reason I laughed so hard was because I empathized so completely.

Thanks for the insight, fellow dungeon crawlers.

Apart from some new spells, is the interface the same as BG in terms of how character, inventory, spell books etc work?

Maybe I should search for some screenshots . . . hmmmmm.

Isn't BG II: Dark Alliance a Playstation version of Baldur's Gate?

I played both Icewind Dale 1 and 2. The first is like Baldur's Gate (2nd ed. rules) and has lots of hack and slash. It has more hoards of bad guys than single big bosses. It has good equipment though and is fairly well balanced. The two expansions are nice too. Trials of the Luremaster was fun.

It took a while to get used to IWD 2, but in the end I really liked it. It uses 3rd ed rules which takes getting used to but the information screens are really detailed and you can define your character better. The downside is the lack of decent equipment. Many items have great back stories but are totally worthless stat-wise.

If you are looking for some new D&D games both these are well worth it. I think you can pick both up with all expansions for like 10 bucks. Why not buy them?

Dark Alliance has no relationship with the BG RPG titles. It's a hack-n-slash action title, very much a Diablo clone.
