Problem with Monster Summoning (Cleric)

I'm only into the first chapter. My character is a human FTR 1/ WIZ 1/ CLERIC 4 with a WIS 17. I've chosen among my cleric spells both Monster Summoning I and II, however even after resting, the spells are inaccessible, including my Doom spell as well. The others are available and nothing I try seems to remedy the situation. I have been able to summon my familiar (pixie for traps and locks), but that shouldn't interfere with the summoning spell, IIRC. My domains are Air and Death (I meant to get animal, but hit death by mistake and noticed too late).
Anyway, my question is: Does anyone know what the problem is here? (And can it be fixed?)
My understanding is that there shouldn't be any alignment, armor or domain conflicts with casting these cleric spells.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I really don't want to start over again.
