wizard question

Very new to this game and I've never played any D&D so this is a little difficult for me to learn how everything works.

I have a lvl 2 wizard with no spells. Where/How can I learn spells.

Also should I spend my money on weapons and armour in Targos? It seems kind of expensive with little additional bonus over my basic equipment.

Last question, can cloaks and robes be worn by spellcasters without suffering a casting penalty?

Hi welcome to the forum (and to the world of D&D games).
You will get the hang of it soon enough not to worry.

A level 1 wizzard should be able to cast spells imidiatly,
at the buttons in the downright corner of your screen. Pick the 10o'clock position (spellbook).

Select spelllevel1. Now you should see some known spells, and to the left your memorizedspell selection.
Select some spells, untill your dont have anymore spellslots. And the rest somewhere.
You have now memorized the spells you selected.

Now select your wizzard an click the castspell button (moon with stars) and select a spell and then a target to cast it on.

(note: some spells are automaticly targeted at yourself, and some "cant be cast" like identify.)

About your other questions: i recommand buying some of the equipment only that you think is good. If you have a monk, theres a nice monk girdle somehwere (IIRC). And I believe I wore the belt with permanent bless untill the end of the game.

And yes, wizzards can wear robes without panalty's.

Hey Cheeze Wiz

Also a note to remember is that you must have at least 12 in you Inteligence stat, 14 for 2nd lvl spell, 16 for 3rd ect... (I may be off but its all in the heart)

Thanks for the help but... I originally leveled my wizard as rogue so rogue1/wizard1. I think I saw on another post that if u do that u don't have spells (my spellbook is completely empty). So do I find/buy spell books or something? I tried learning some from scrolls but that didn't work. heh I have 17 Int. so that's not the problem.

I did see that belt and thought it was one of the better items but I don't have a monk in my party, so oh well.

You can learn new spells by writing them into your spell book from scrolls you find or buy

its a good idea to save your game before you try to write a spell into your spellbook. If it fails, you can reload your game and try to write it again.
