I was just wondering what everybody's party consisted of if the administrators don't mind if I ask.

Mine are as follows:

Virgil (Story line)
Magnus (Has a role in the story in a sense)
Dog (Brilliant Melee unit and I took him as a joke at first but I then found out how much of a great asset he is to the party)

I had: Virgil, magnus, sogg mead mugg, and loghair thunderstone. I played as a dwarf, so I wanted some travelling buddies.

Virgil, Magnus, "Dog" and Sogg. I only wish there was a lot more party interaction, and far better control of your people in combat, as there is in BG2.

Tell me about it. I don't remember the amount of times I had to reload because they just ran into a fight and were slaughtered, when a few tactics would have saved them. It was the same with fallout, though fallout 2 did correct some of those faults.

Controlling your followers in combat is frustrating at first, but in fact there is a lot you can learn to do, subtleties. A few tips:

When you can easily win a fight by yourself, hit F5 in combat and your followers will let you finish fighting alone.

When you want one enemy of a bunch to attack you, hit F5 before combat so your followers will not rush ahead of you and get in trouble.

You can make your followers "Wait" away from combat. Go near to your enemies, when a few attack you, run away to your followers. Even tho waiting, they will actually fight for you! And you might pick off one chasing enemy at a time that way.

Make sure your followers are well equippped! With best armor and weapons, and not encumbered, they often take care of themselves very well.

One way to vary your games is: different followers or NO followers.

No followers is pretty easy if you can THROW, have heal spells, and other spells making it easy to win by throwing.

You can play solo with Melee, herbology and therapeutics.

You can make many different follower combinations. Your character plus your followers just have to cover basic needs: combat healing, carrying, ...

Magnus is a fun follower but you can't be evil with him around, and he hates to wait.

I use virgil every time I play, he's really helpful since I never have to invest in healing spells etc. when I played a techie I took the girl that specializes in technologic healing. besides them I needed no one and they were dying all the time, ruining the game :p

i take only virgli for the storyline or go solo for the fun every time i play.I dont know, it seems to me that some games have more interesting NPCs than other. In arcanums case they bore me out.Theres nothing peculiar about them that separates them from others (xcept the char),stories are not interresting, they dont disagree or swear with eachother, and are generaly getting in the way.the point is u cant get loneley enoug in arcanum to take more then 2.(in comparission to morrowind, where u CAN get loneley and CANT take npcs).
since the guys at troika did the first fallout ill take this as their hidden wish that this game is actualy ment to be played alone...

Yes, Virgil's definitely the most interesting of the lot, and I suspect at one time they considered adding more background and quests for the others. A shame they didn't, in any case. For my money, BG2 has the corner on interactive NPCs, though PS:T has the most interesting.

Virgil
Sogg
Chukka
Raven
the Dog

That way I have my right-hand man (Virg), my 2 enforcers (Sogg and Chukka - both wearing fine suits, mind you), my girl, and of course, man's best friend, the worthless mutt.

Dante, Sogg Seed Mug, Mutley (Dog), Jana, Thovalt, and Raven are a nice combo...Magnus if you can get him as well.

Jana can wear the better armor eventually and gets the tech bonus. Sogg has no prejudice, and neither does Two Stones. Raven has bow skills (right? I am talking about the elf)

Virigl is nice to have, but is Virgil any better than Dante?

If you can get Dante and then make him wait while you deliver the gold to the king, then you get all of Virgil's heal spells plus Dante's Wind Blast and no he doesn't count towards the follower total. Virgil never seems to be able to pick a lock. Furthemore, Dante tends to run from a fight, meaning he doesn't die as quick and lets you get the kill. All you have to do is have a high throwing skill in the beggining and later MELEE with a Pyro Axe.

Any thoughts?
